I will be needing to knock out my does to AI. What drugs do you recommend to use and reversal?

Thanks

We tried Bam when it first came out and it did not work for us as advertised. Lately, after hearing many good endorsements of Bam II, we tried it again while cutting antlers and we will not go back to Xylazine/Telazol. So far, the average time to knock them out is about 7-10 minutes, we have not had to redart anyone yet (knock on wood) and the average time after reversal to walking is under 10 minutes, with a range of 3 minutes to just under 20 minutes. Had a friend test his herd last week and his breeder buck would not go clear out after 2 X/T shots and had to be held down by 4 men to draw blood and they were unable to cut his antlers. Went over 2 days later and used Bam. He was completely out in 7 minutes, head up in 3 and standing in 5 minutes. Price is comparable to X/T. One more added bonus, we are using less of the Bam than is called for in the instructions. So far every yearling buck has gone out with .8cc and 2 & 3 year olds with 1 cc.

Bam II works very well and has its negative and postive aspects. Whats nice is it does put them out, and quickly. It can also be reversed instantly if need be. However, you can not collect semen with it because it causes issues to the prostate. I have had a couple animals that reversal took longer than normal and seemed to be sluggish for the following day. Zoopharm suggested uping the reversal amount for the Atipamizole and it has worked fine since, also gotta make sure that injection is not in a fatty region.

We have a calm herd of bucks and we use xylazine/telazol 4:1 we hit our yearlings with 1cc and our two year olds 1.5cc or more depending on size they typically go out in less than 10 minutes and we reverse with 3cc of tolazine they take a little while waking up but we have not had any problems yet... I think it's all based on how calm your bucks are and how you approach them...

Bam is the only way to travel. But if you want to fight, claw and wrestle you bucks go ahead I am to tired and to smart for that. My 14 yr old son and I darted 8 210-258 3yr old bucks today. We scored them and load them on a stretcher, put them in loading stalls. we also darted 25 younger bucks and cut antlers. No even a flinch from them. And the BIGGEST KICKER is we used 1 (ONE) cc darts with BAM 2. One DART PER BUCK Now that worked GREAT! JIM SIMONSON

I have to agree with everyone else on using Bam. We darted hundreds of deer with xyl/tel mix for 7 years and while it does work, once you've darted deer with Bam I can't imagine every going back. They only time we use xly/tel anymore is when we are collecting semen.

There is simply no comparison between sedation time and reversal no matter how calm your deer are!!!

BAM works great. I am a believer. We used 1/2 cc on yearlings and 1 cc on mature bucks. We even had a misfire and the dart grazed the bucks leg and he went down. I have heard from AI techs that they prefer not to use it to lap AI with. Any opinions on this?

I think it has alot to do with your herd and how calm they are. I mix 5:1 Telazol/Xylazine ...............Minimum 1 hour before use let the bottle set in warm water till ready to use. 2cc dart and 2 1/2 cc Reverser.

I have NEVER had a problem and Bucks and Does go out like a LIGHT!

Just what works on my Farm...............My knock out drugs are easily available, inexpensive and simple to use!.............No mailman,No shipping and No perscription, Can be used to A/I and for major or minor sugery and can put a Fawn down with a 1/2cc Dart and straight Xylazine..................If it ain't BROKE......... I ain't gonna try something else!

What ever use choose to use.................Get Verbal and Hands on Instruction!

In My Opinion......................Written Interpertation of Instructions VARY GREATLY!

Just look at the "NEW" Federal Rules! LOL

Best of Luck to all this fall

Numerous farms have used bam to ai with good success. We will be using it to ai this year.

The "hangover" time between bam and xyl/tel mix are not even in the same ballpark. Bam deer recover 10x faster!

At the end of the day, use whatever you are most comfortable with. However, i can tell you after using both products extensively, im a big fan of bam.

What ratio of xylazine and telezol should be used for 4yo does. And how much reversal?

It all really depends on you does. If they are bottlefeds they will take less most times. I mix ours 6 to 1 most times and never have to give adult does over 1cc of the cocktail. I always double the reverser. If i put them out with 1cc of cocktail i wake them up with 2cc reverser!
