First I would like to thank everyone who replied. I did get some negetive replies at first, but I think I was responsible for that because of the way I worded my post. It sounded a little like I didnt care too much about my buck. Nothing could be further from the truth. I cared very much for this animal. He was my sons first pet deer he was a bottled fed very tame deer.EKLJR YOUR APOLOGIE is accepted, although not neccessary thank you.

I lost my buck yesterday:( I was trying to do some exploritory surgery on him, but he was just too weak. I was thinking now that I waited too long. But after I did some my cutting on him what I found that it was a tumor. Im not sure there would have been anything way to save him.

Knowing what I do now that it was a tumor and not an infection, I was wondering if there would have been anything I could have done. If anyone else has had a deer with a tumor and saved them I would like to know what they did. Also anyone know what causes a tumor to start. Maybe I can prevent this from happening again.

Again I wish to thank everyone. This has been very helpfull.

Sorry about the loss of the buck. I don't think there was much you could have done to save an animal with a tumor of that size in that area. As to what causes it I guess like people it just happens. I don't think there is much you could do to prevent it. In fact I don't think you will ever see that problem again. The one thing I've learned is you will always see something new just when you think there is nothing else you could see while raising deer. Good luck with the rest of the deer.

Sorry hunter to hear that your buck died......it wasn't anything you did so don't beat yourself up.......Thats one of the bad parts of deer farming is we all lose animals that we care for greatly. Hang in there and thanks for the update.
