Its time for me to vaccinate! I talked with several farmers who agreed that the closer to the EHD season the better. We've concluded that some deer just don't carry the residuals in their system as long as other deer. I lost a tremendous doe last year in late August that had been triple vaccinated. Now deer in my close proximity were testing positive for a mutated strain of Type II. Was it that or had the vaccine lost its potency since the last time it was given in March? I don't know but I've got to try! Since the dosage for this new vaccine is 2cc would you use a gellatin collar dart or not?

I have my ehd vaccine ready but i am a little nervous about shooting the bred does due to stress what do you guys recommend? Shoot the pregnant ones now or after they fawn all fawns will recieve the vaccine at 7,14,21 days.

It almost seems like working them after dark through my handling boxes could suffice, since the vaccine is to be administered IM. I would only probably get my tamest to cooperate! Dart the rest I guess. I need two more to fawn. Its getting hot here 90's every day already. Fawns are more active. Time to put out my creep feeders.

Bone Collector , what type of creep feeders do you use? I was thinking of putting one out this year to feed fawns calf manna pellets but was wondering how to keep the adult deer out.

They are homemade! Essentially they are short buckets with legs and a roof. I cut small crescent shaped holes for feed to gravitate through. Then make a ledge to hold feed that extends between legs. I do this on both sides. The roof has to extend out to keep grown deer from eating their food. Ill see if I can get a pic for ya!
