Weak newborn fluid on lungs, Help Please

I need immediate advice please! This morning twins born, going by when I saw buck mount doe (Nov. 1), they'd be around 17 days early. Little buck seems to have fluids on his lungs and has gotten very weak since lunch time when he had gotten up and came towards me. Stuck my finger in both their mouths, felt warm, so I figure they had gotten a little colostrum. This evening he would not stand up, can lift his head, but doesn't suck really. I gave him 1/2 cc penicillin with about 0.2 cc B12 complex, a few dropper full of goat colostrum. The only injectable antibiotics on hand right now are Tetracyclin and Gentamycin.

Any advice as to what I could do? I got him in the house so he is not just laying out in about 55-60 degrees, as I figure he couldn't get up to nurse anyway.

Immediate replies very much appreciated!!! Thanks a lot.

You need to get him immediate energy. Karyo syrup, electrolytes something. Get him on a heating pad and wrap in a blacket. Monitor closely. If his temperature is that low the out come is not good long term. Tube feeding or drenching will be necessary. Find my number in my signature and text me. Ryan

Thanks so much Ryan!!! I lost him late last night. I had him on heating pad, injected B12 Complex and Dextrose, gave him a mix of kid's colostrum and Karo syrup by the dropper full, but he kept going backwards, rattling on lungs, nose sounding congested too. Prior to dying he spit up whatever I had gotten into him and had liquid coming from his nose too.

Around 10:30 I went to check on his sister and she was weak and cold by that time, so took her in too. She doesn't sound as congested but was only able to suck in about 1/2 ounce from bottle (colostrum/syrup mix), so I've been doing the same with her. She is at least a little responsive still, but has not been sucking this morning, just laying limp, every so often lifting her head. Just gave her "Power Punch" for goats, colostrum/syrup mix about 15 dropper full, .3 cc & .5 dextrose subq. and back on heating pad for a while. Vet not open yet.

The doe bagged up last year over about 2 1/2-3 weeks, then had triplets. This time she bagged up for less than a week only. Is it possibly an indication that they are pre-mature and she has not sufficiently produced colostrum/milk? This is only my 2nd year of deer farming, so I've not had experience with that type of thing. The triplet doe fawns she had last year refused bottle (event. I got one to take it) and after 24 hours just a few ounce of milkreplacer, they went down to almost unresponsive. Got them back on their legs, put the 2 stubborn ones back with mom and they have been doing wonderful.

These new fawns don't seem to respond to the stuff I've been getting into them. I'm wondering if: 1. They are not fully developed, they are about 17 days early (breeding date Nov. 1st) or 2. Does the mom not have produced sufficient colostrum/milk or has not been taking care of them? Thoughts???

Thanks again for your help!!!

UPDATE: Both fawns died, were apparently not quite developed. I counted the days from the time I saw the buck mount her on Nov. 1, that puts the birth date at 175 days, 25 days too short, I guess. Tube feeding not more than 10 cc or it would come right back out. No response to Penicillin, B 12 Complex, Draxxin, Dextrose, Power Punch, Karo syrup, kid colostrum. Little doe fawn's lungs sounded good, vet said. An hour after coming back from vet before I could tube feed her again, she passed away. I guess I'm learning the down side of deer farming. Hope my other doe will have fawns and that they'll be fine.
