What are the laws in your State?

Wondering how the laws differ from State to State. Some of the things I was wondering is listed below.

If you could post how this things work in your state I would appreciate it.

Is your State under DNR or Ag?

What are the import/export laws in your state?

Does your state allow hunting preserves?

If so, what percent of deer have to be tested out of the preserve each year?

Are you allowed to put Does' in your preserve and if so, can you allow them to raise their fawns inside the preserve?

What is the State's tagging regulation in the preserve?

If you have bucks left over after hunting season, can they be carried over to the next year or do they all have to be shot?

Can bucks be introduced in the preserve at anytime or just certain times of the year?

In your state do you have to buy a state hunting license to hunt in the preserve?

If so, are they the same price as your state hunting license?

Do you have to follow the States hunting season dates?

What States can deer be brought in from?

Sorry so many questions but any help would be appreciated.

Clay our farm is Indiana but our preserve is in ohio. Sounds like you want preserve answers.. So we are under the ag department and test 30%. We can put does in and let them fawn on there own. Bucks live there year round and can stock at anytime. We have no hunting license for the hunters and we have no season dates.

so I assume you don't have to tag the fawns that was born in the preserve?

Any animal that is born in there we tag after its killed. Same with the pigs that are born in there. As for states I think we can bring in from any state but maybe PA. And there is a buffer for cwd areas

Here in Minnesota we are governed by Board of Animal Health. We must tag everything before it is one year old. We can import from almost any state that can export beyond their border. Minnesota preserves have only been allowed for the last several years. There are only a few of us operating preserves in Mn but you always see the craigslist adds selling a buck harvest on a few acres. Not Good. Does and bucks may be harvested and no license is required. It is very difficult to remove the deer from our preserve so we often carry over deer year to year. Occasionally fawns are born in the preserve. All deer harvested must be tested for CWD.

In Wisconsin we are under Dept. of Agr. and have been since 2002. On the breeding farm we must tag everything by the time it is a year old, we usually just tag the newborn fawns. On the hunting preserve, deer born there are not tagged until they die or are shot. We can bring deer in from anywhere that will export deer. They have to be 5 year CWD monitored, TB tested and brucellosis tested. We can bring deer into the preserve anytime. Deer that aren't taken just stay there until they are. Hunters do not need any type of license and we can hunt whenever we want. We have does in our preserve so have a number of natural born deer there.

When we shoot deer we have to test 50%. Wisconsin requires at least 80 acres for a hunting preserve, which is definitely on the small side, but does set some standards.

Iowa requires 320 acres to operate. DNR regulates preserves, no hunter license required. Preserve operators pay a $350 annual registration fee to DNR. We are required to test 100% of harvested animals. We can bring animals in from states that are accepted from state vet, must be from CWD monitored herd. Animals remain and natural breed on the preserve property. Nothing is allowed to leave live.
