I know it depends a lot on personality of the dog, but what breeds of dogs do most of you have. Are they allowed to wander around the outside of the pens? Fearlessness with coyotes and/or bobcats?

English Mastiff.... he's our gentle giant, deer love him becasue he's about 200lbs and their size and thats good because ppl and other animals fear him even tho he's a sissy.

Can't blame them, even if I knew he was a sissy, I would go around him...LOL

lol got two English labs,a plott hound,English bulldog and a weenie dog they run around the yard and even go in the pens with me ,i promise no strays or coyotes come around here ,and the english bull dog is worth his weight in gold with fawns i dont have to stimulate a fawn one he takes care of all that for me ,the deer dont even pay attention to the dogs running around got a couple does that when the dogs start barking at something outside of my property the run to the fence and stomp there feet ,i guess that's there bark

We have a half Elkhound/Shepard mix. Marley was 6 months old and the girls were fawns when there were introduced to each other. Marley actually helped stimulate them after each bottlefeeding. They get together extremely well and play with each other everytime we go into the enclosure.

Definately the English labs, they are calm, smart and great for the family too. Our deer are used to being around our dogs and our dogs are used to being around the deer and even touch noses with them.

We do have a couple youngsters to place, email for info and pictures.

Heres a link on youtube to a pup we placed a couple years ago, she is five months old in the video

We have had a great pyrenees for 4 years and haven't had a varmet sense. If the the coyotes start howling he will meet them at the property line. The bad thing is you might go through 4 or 5 before you get one that will do his job like their supposed to.

as a matter of fact i got it to suck this morning ,eight days old finally so relived was about ready to do something bad (lol)now Ive got another doing the same thing but now i no what to do,(thank you for asking)and yes English labs are more laid back than American labs so they do great around deer our male lays out side the fawn pen and babysits when were gone ,the fawns love him and the adults dont pay any attention to him,by the way we have a litter of pups fixing to hit the ground if anyone's interested

we have a chocolate lab and a rotty they both keep there head through the fence and the deer clean inside there ears

Getting a young pup grow up with the deer is important! We have a 6 month blue pitbull that is doing great with the deer and

fawns we even got her on the homepage of our soon to be finished website!!!!and hoping she will be a great farm protector very soon!
