What to do for whitetail hair loss

As they started to get their summer coats they looked good but after about two weeks they started to lose patches of hair from the shoulders back. I have another pen of deer that do not have this problem.

Hi Larry, It sounds like your deer might have mange a mite that they can get from birth, it gets under the folicle of the hair. They lose hair and eventually get sores that they can die from. The vet needs to take a scraping of the area and see if he has mites and then a shot can be administered by the vet. Other deer can catch this from the sick one so keep them apart if you can. This happens if the fawn is born with a poor immuine system.
