What to do with a doe named JUNE ?

In Aug of 08 we purchased a doe fawn out of WC Cash/Blazer/Boomer a fawn we felt would do well with the Maxin lines we are crossing. We named her June Cash :) We watched June grow into a healthy adult. in the fall of 09 we planned her first breeding on our farm would be to Hardcore thru Lap a/i. She waited her turn and we put into the A/I Vets trailer asking how each doe looked and the qauility of each straw as they were thawed and each time we were repeatedly told how WONDERFUL each does tone and color was and the vet even told us how " THEY LOOK SO GOOD WE'RE PUTTING THE BUTTER ON THE BISCUIT" How much better could it get we thought after a nearly 100 % sucsess rate the year before. Well that was with the VET WE HAD BOOKED our program with we didn't know he would NOT be doing it this year he was so busy he had to hire extra help.......And didn't bother to let us know until the day of our AI. We were reassured how good "THIS GUY WAS" and not to worry!(we changed A/I vets this year after asking ? about our sucsess rate with our A/I vet and being told "Don't sweat the small stuff")Well that day came and went and at 196 days we started to have fawns and we thought we were on our way but several does didn't go on time and in thier window. So we were left with our back up fawns and we were FINE with that! Because our back up was MAXIN EAGLE a 335" 6x5 main frame with 29" beams and 18 3/8" g-2 s. Well everyone fawned but June and we thought well she probably didn't stick to the A/I and that we probably pulled Eagle before she had a chance to cycle again.......fair assumption huh! When the 2010 A/I season was upon us and and it was time to put cidrs in and when we did June I noticed she felt really tight like a doe fawn would and we heard a "POP" when the cidr gun was fully inserted! Still we had not a clue that any thing was "WRONG" with June. So this past Wed. we had June ready for A/I and her date with "TEXAS TEA".........Should be a homerun we figured! well up the ramp and into the trailer she went. I told our new A/I vet this year about June not fawning to A/I or the back up. She began the procedure and looked up at me in DISBELIEF..............This doe was A/I d last year she asked and I replied yes and she told me that June had a "VERY JUVENILE UTURUS........ALMOST.............NONEXISTENT AND SHE HAD VERY LITTLE CHANCE OF EVER CONCEIVING! AND WAS GOING TO LOOK AT HER AFTER WE TOOK HER OUT OF THE TRAILER TO SEE WHAT HER FEMALE PARTS LOOKED LIKE! WOW not what one was expecting. So she looked June over fully and determined that she could only penatrate her with about 2" of her scope and believed that she had a testicle present! WOW!!!!!!!!!!! MUST A BEEN SOME "BUTTER" HE USED ON HER BISCUIT THE YEAR BEFORE  So now we are left with what to do with JUNE ? And the thought that we were a "LITTLE" mislead by our vet and his assement of JUNE the yera before! I asked the vet if "HE SAW THE SAME THING LAST YEAR THAT SHE DID THIS YEAR ? She assured me "HE HAD TO"!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So I guess we just shot that Hardcore in the coal bucket!

So we are still left with what to do with JUNE!

She won't be SOLD or put in an AUCTION!

So what options are left for JUNE! by the way she has a womb brother and a womb sister who fawned last year fine! Anyone need a pet? :)

Wow wayne what a joke!!!!I think i would be callin him up and mabey butter his biscuit

with a phone call of a few choice questions??????I know you paid good money for that hardcore semen..I would want some answers at the very least!!!I am sure that one of the ladies on this forum will give her a longtime happy home!!!!

Wayne, that is a very interesting story. It is sad, but still interesting. I understand your respect for the "former" vet and not stating his/her name. BUT, I am sure I am not the only one wandering who did this to you. Perhaps a private message if your not up for disclosing them publicly. I sure wouldn't want that vet doing anything with my deer.

Wayne,

Thats a hard pill to swallow, Im a beleaver that everybody and everything is good for something, Is she tame, bottle feed, and quiet? She might be just perfect for keeping a herd quiet.

I had a rope horse that was nuts when we entered an arena.I started taking my daughters one eyed half blind pony to the ropings and to this day i cant tell you how many ropings we won! Everybody and everything needs a friend.

What is her CWD, bruce, and TB status?

If she's tame and quiet she would be a great steward for our industry. Theres nothing like having a deer people can pet and feed when they come to the farm!

If shes tame email me and i might be able to help you ....

Jim

Sounds like a good canidate for a deer roast. Have some freinds over who appriciate a deer with good genetics and tell them to bring a side dish.

I know this thread was not meant to bash vets......however alot of them are taking on to much business and stretching themselves to thin and WE are the ones who pay for it......my first tewo years of aiing I got nothing back in return for my investment.....and i am not talking about cheap semen.........maxbo......bucky jr........highroller.....just to name a few.........Its not right......these vets need to realize that we have a lot of money invested in this semen and they need to respect that.....thye need to take on the jobs that they can handle and not over book........I will be doing my own Aiing this year.......I surely can;t do any worse than my previous experiences with a poff vet doing it........

The main thing bothering me is ........When I asked my "former" A/I vet and he is very widely used in P.A and Ohio and other states as well. Is he just kept telling me" not to sweat the small stuff " Which I never have I fully understand the whole A/I Thing and the fact that there are SO MANY VARIABLES from farm to farm..... sanitary issues, calmness of the herd, each does reaction to stress and the process as a whole!

Never was my inital call to him was to "COMPLAIN" it was to simply see if he thought we had a problem that affected our sucsess compared to the year before! Because these were the same does from the year before, were in the same pen ,same feed, same step by step insructions provided by him and we followed to the letter! And the best he had to offer was Wayne "YOU CAN'T SWEAT THE SMALL STUFF" so after hearing this response repeatedly I simply hung up the phone before stooping to his in my opion very unproffesional approach in answering my initial question! But like I said my main thought here is...............IF all had gone well and the majority of my does had fawned to A/I with the exception of JUNE............How long would it have been until he let me in on the fact that...No matter how much butter we had put on her biscuit and for how many years we did it..........When and how would he have explained to me her OVEN was not on! June is bottle fed and is a very calm doe and very nice size. Virgil for me a roast or a pot of chilli is not really an option. We are 8 yrs CWD,TB and Bruc tested and anyone is interested in her for a pet or as some type of project. just let me know and all i ask for is that you take care of the shippng (unless am coming to an auction in your area) And that you keep me posted on her well being! If anyone wishes the name of this "BISCUIT BAKER" just pm me........ I have nothing to hide........If anyone knows what to do with June or has any ideas let me know! Thanks

Wayne.... that sucks! Plain and simple. Let me know how it worked out with the other girls on Texas Tea and how this changed your AI choices that you had to make. If I can help at all I surely will.

I'll take her and add her to my tame doe herd. She will be exposed to a buck and if something happens I'll split the fawns with you.

If she is tame We have two others the same way and they are no longer getting bred and will never be exposed to a breeder buck. If you make it up to Indiana and she doesn't have a home. let me know!
