so I'm looking at getting more deer and wondering what your guys thoughts were to get some really good does and bred them good at my places or just buy buck fawns? thanks in advance for your replies

I have bred does for sale and their pedigrees and production is great. However, they start at $1200 and go up from there. And I will not deliver them either.

I am selling out my entire herd.

If your just raising shooter bucks i would not spend crazy money on does. Like Rogers animals that will make the same 200-300 inch 2 year olds for 1200 than were just sold for 5 grand at the last auction. Get some good producing does and a great price and raise shooters. Forget hype and look at production and your numbers will look much better at the end of the year.

Whatever you do make sure you are raising bucks you really like to look at. With so few hunt preserves in MN there isn't much of a market here and in a couple years who knows. If you will be able to ship out of state. ..bred does would be the least risk if you buy from someone you can trust.

Thanks for the responses guys forgot to mention that my final product would be shooters I'm looking for stocking my soon to start preserve. I have the look I like a lot already just thinking how cheap you see some buck fawns from some people if it's even worth breeding does. Roger could you seND me some pedigrees please

I have a breeding operation and a preserve. Live breeding is the best way to raise shooters. You don't have to have high end does to breed good shooters. Breed what the hunters like and not just for score. I am sure every area is different but my hunters are looking for clean typicals. Not every hunter is looking for a 200 inch deer. I sale a good many 150-170 inch shooters.

Also, I try to buy about 1/2 my shooters. That way if you get hit hard by Ehd or anything else you are not completely out and have a supplier network.

Depending on what your looking for I have a choice buck fawn lot coming up in the Midwest select and if interested feel free to get ahold of me on some of my other potential buck/doe fawns coming this spring.

If your still interested I have some doe at my place I could help you out with depending on when you want them. How many are you looking for? And I'm not looking for money for my doe(all $1000 or more at purchase) or fawns if you rather have fawns. Pm me if interested. I enjoy helping other farmers!
