what Tranquilizer equipment do you use?

Cap-Chur makes some fine equipment. I prefer Pneu-Dart for the following reasons. The darts are disposable and reduces the risk of pathogen transmission. The Cap-Chur air injection darts are in my opinion a little riskier to use as the side port needle seal can leak and expose you to the chemicals. I realize exposure to the chemicals is inherient each time a dart of any kind is loaded, but I have never had a pneu-dart leak. The special charges used by the cap-chur projectors work well, but in a pinch just about any good hardware store carries the 22 charges used in the Pneu-Dart projector. lastly, I find it takes more velocity to propel the cap-chur dart as opposed to the Pneu-darts and faster speed means harder impact which could cause the dart to bury or break a bone. These are just a few of my experience based observations and not meant to promote Pneu-dart products. Just one man's opinion.

I agree with Scott. I have used the Cap-chur equiment and it worked well, but I prefer Pneu-dart. I am on my second dart gun from Pneu-dart. My first was a very good reliable gun, but I wanted to upgrade to the X-caliber. I could not be happier with it.

We use Pneu-dart. We love the air pistol for our 10-30 footers. Very quiet and doesn't rattle the rest of the pen. The .22 is needed for the wilder ones, of course. We either catch and syringe or blow dart the rest.

Brandon, we are just getting started with Pneu Dart and I would love to sell you a gun. Give me a call at (717) 238-7715 and I can quote you as well, ask for Henry

What model pistol do ya all use?

Morning people!

I was wonering if i could get some help? Im thinking about the new x-cal dart gun from new-dart and was wondering if its quiet? i have a dart gun that takes the 22 blanks but my pins are not that big and i cant help to think that the 22 will send them into the fence?

Also im just starting out (small) and i have a design for a handleing fac. But im wondering if my money would be better spent on a better dart gun and more fenceing?

What causes less stess on my deer being darted or run through a chute? There about 20 fters. Thanks for your help

The X Cal is awesome and I highly recommend it.

Personally I feel that a good dart gun and a handling facility are a must have. And I also feel the chute system is less stressful and safer than always darting them for everything. In fact, I think there are those times when you have a sick deer and darting them would most likely be enough to push them over the edge towards death, where if you run them through a chute to treat them you will have better odds of success.

Thanks Roger for the come back.Thats what i was thinking also. I looked at the x-cal at the Nadefa show.Nice gun. There was also a booth there that had dart guns but i didnt get their cards. I think it was cap- chur but im not sure! their gun was also a co2 and their darts were reuseable but i cant find the gun on the net. whats your thoughts on reuseable darts ? And hows your back feeling? Better i hope!

Yes thank you my back is doing better now.

Personally I think the reusable darts would be awesome to use except for when you lose them in the tall grass. They are very pricey then.

I wouldn't mind having reusable darts as an option though.

I am familiar with the Cap-Chur guns as well. I think it is a nice product but I do think the overall usability of the X Cal is better. I like how easy it is to slip in another dart for that quick shot at a second animal when available. Which happens because of how silent the X Cal is. I also love the lazer sight. I have both the red and the green lazer here. On the gun right now is the green one. It costs a little more but works better in the sunlight. The red fades away too much in the sun.

I also have only needed it once, but the small flashlight on my rifle is very handy and works very well. I guess it was one of those things I thought I had wasted money on until that night I needed it. Then I was happy it was there.

The X-Caliber is very quite. Most of the deer never hear it and just stand there. Pricey but well worth the price. The lasers make a big difference also. One of the most important tools a deer farmer needs...

I agree that a good dart gun and a handling facility are a must have. Have had a drop chute for a couple of years and absolutely love it. So much better than having to dart them. Although probably my greatest asset is the box just before the chute. I can enter from three different sides and actually give shots to deer without running them through the chute.

Good point Gaylen, We use the same method at various times of the year,Ehd booster in july so we don't have to drop lactating does. Even used it this year to tranq a deer to draw semen gave him the meds left him in the box till he went out opened side door slid him out on table worked great! Handling facility, dart gun, good deer box. All great tools to have on hand on a deer farm

Thanks guys for all the come backs. I looked at the chute and system the the Deer store had in Toleto and im impressed with the way it worked. A little pricey but i would only have to buy it once. I only have 3 breed does now soon to have 8 or 9 so im trying to justify the chute over a new dart gun and more fence. I do have a dart gun but its not that quite and you have to change the charges . plus i like the idea of being able to control the amout of power and speed of the dart with a twist of the knob. If we could figure out a way of darting them sub Q who would need a chute. lol Thanks again guys.

Chuck, I had the booth at Nadefa and sold the projectors and darts. I still have a few at the show price I am looking to sell. Give me a call, Henry (717) 238-7715

We have 2 X-Calibers and 2 X-2 remaining at the low introductory price as well as darts available. Save some money and take advantage of extra cash in your pockets, now theres a novel idea these days, hahaha.
