Baytril is a good drug for pen raised animals. 1 cc sub Q and a tube of fawn paste. It would would be a good idea to follow up two days later with the same treatment.

We just cleaned one up from ecoli (had the white poop as well) with Baytril, and followed up with probiotics as Josh stated.

Sulfadimethoxazine with Trimethoprim (SMZ) liquid or powder put in bottle baby milk will treat E-coli and works best when used with Baytril 100 with shots for the treatment of any gut infections. SMZ is synergistic (works beter than when used alone) and has stopped my problem very fast when treating any gut problem. I found the SMZ in powder form on a pigeon health web site www.foyspigeonsupplies.com at a good price.

Richard,

I have cultured almost 2 dozen stool samples over the past few years and with drug susceptibility test preformed have never found one that Albon or oxy-tet would work on.

They are about the weakest drugs you can use. Baytril and Gentamicin have almost always tested at the top of the list with gentamicin never letting me down.

Try the baytril with the fawn paste, I think you will like it. Good Luck

After dealing with ecoli many times I have developed a vaccine that has greatly reduced the prevalence of ecoli on my farm by close to a factor of 10. If you are interested in some info I would be glad to send it over. It also covers Fuso- bacterium ( lumpy jaw, foot rot and pneumonia.) this year is the largest group of people nation wide using it. I have seen tremendous results thus far.

Mule deer get e-coli most years on my place. I used the vaccine Josh had both in my does and in the fawns when born. I'm very happy to say I had no E-coli this year. Good product to try if you have an e-coli problem.

We used Josh's vaccine this year on our does and fawns and have had good success. After the year we had last year loosing fawns we had to do something and the vaccine seems to be doing its job. So far all 27 fawns are still alive and well.

Here is the vaccine info. We currently have vaccine on hand ready for shipping. Shipping is free in PA and some surrounding states.

Bottles are now 50 doses each, 1 ml per dose. They are $300 plus shipping if you are outside of PA and close surrounding areas.

This vaccine is for all age classes of deer not just fawns.
