I noticed last nite when viewing the Exchange site on the right hand side they listed folks who hadn't paid for some reason or another. I find it a bit ironic that they post the names for non payers but give nothing in the way of buyers or sellers. If they want pretend to be like ebay then those should be kept confidential as is the buyer and sellers. I actually don't like the fact the sellers or buyers are not disclosed which allows for some funky stuff to be happening! At least at the live sales you have the ability to see who you are bidding against and who is selling it.

What are others thoughts of this practice or am I way out of line here?

I think they should throw it all out there-make our usernames be our real names and let each build his own reputation, no matter which way he wants to build it.

I couldn't agree more! I don't like the fact that I can't see who I'm buying from. I've only bought one straw that wasn't from the owner of the deer and luckily he was a stand up guy and everything was fine. Still I don't see the harm of listing the seller and bidder by name. And as far as listing people who have not paid, that's what the feedback section is for. If the seller didn't get paid then he can leave negative feedback for all to see.

Droptine,I totally agree with you.

I can tell you that I do absolutely EVERYTHING I can do to try to get the sellers the money they have coming to them. I send reminders to late payers, I invoice, I just about beg and plead with the buyers sometimes who pay late.

When a sale is completed each buyer instantly gets an email telling them that they are the winning bidder. This email instructs the buyer to send their money to Whitetail exchange within 7 days. Trust me, the names that are listed were not 7 days late. Some of them are two and a half months late. I try everything I can to get the money for a purchase and as a last resort list their name.

I am very slow to put a name on the web site. Only after I have explored all my other options do I put a name up there. Put yourself in the shoes of the seller. What if you had one straw of semen that you wanted to sell. Say it sells in late July. Now it is mid October and you still haven’t been paid for it. Breeding season is now upon us. So now you can’t get your straw sold this year and next year it is one year older genetics with a whole new crop of deer to compete with. Is your straw worth as much next year?

Feedback only is great in a perfect world. Whitetail Exchange has now completed almost 3000 transactions and I am willing to bet that there is not 300 feedbacks left. I guess the bottom line is that when something is purchased, it should be paid for. If you were the person selling the item you would want me working hard to collect your money.

Todd Morgan

and your real name Shasta?

Your are right about the feedback. I have made 5 transactions and have left feedback on every one of them. I still haven't received any Feedback for my purchases. Now on all but one of the auctions I sent the money the day after I received the e-mail verification. All the transaction have been smooth and W.E. has been great, but the sellers need to step up if this is going to work.

Todd Morgan,

I couldn't agree with you more for putting the names up of the dead beat payers....they need to be exposed........when you buy something YOU BUY IT!! Now with that said though.....there is the other side......I do think your real name should be posted on your site and when you are selling or bidding people can see who it is....this eliminates some of the friends bidding on friends consignments............if your going to do one way and expose names.....you need to go the other way and expose names........it only makes your website look better as it keeps the BAD BUSINESS people away............

WOW! did I touch a nerve! Didn't mean to offend you just know if its right to put folks name on like that.

Droptine and Antlervalley I agree all the way.

But if the site continues to run this way cant you force buyers and Sellers to leave feedback by locking out until done? As far as the non payers cant you give 7-10 days to make payment then they no longer have rights to it and are banned from site?

Maybe some of those issues of non payment are with the seller because of not knowing who they are???????

I guess the biggest concern is with this format is not knowing if you are being RUN UP by the seller. Todd why is the buyer and sellers not disclosed?

I hear how there is more honesty and integrity in this site but it leaves itself open to some serious misuse.

Please keep in mind not trying to offend just like to understand why it is this way.

Todd Morgan,

I think it should stay the same ..and thanks for let it us know who doesn't pay so we can know . And for the people wanting find out who the sellers are ahead of time , I think if the buyer really wants to know who the seller is.... buy a straw from them... If you were to know ahead of time ...most likely you would go directly to them and not thru Whitetail Exchange.....so there is a catch !!! You keep up the good work !!!! Todd Morgan ( I've bought 80 Straws this Year, and no problem)

REAL NAMES, REAL NAMES, REAL NAMES, REAL NAMES, REAL NAMES, REAL NAMES,

I hear the crowd chanting.

REAL NAMES, REAL NAMES, REAL NAMES, REAL NAMES, REAL NAMES, REAL NAMES.:D

I'll get it started my number is B100092.

Auctions are like the wheel-- a great invention. No amount of running up bids or friends selling to friends will make anyone pay any more than they are willing to pay.You can run up your bid and make it look good---once,maybe twice ,but how many times are you going to pay 10% just to look good? The truth is, just as in world class athletes, some of the right genetic crosses are superior to others and are worth more money, they produce what people want and are looking for.The price is set when the person who thinks that they can benefit the most(from whatever angle they see) is willling to pay more than the last bidder. If someone is playing games to make thier lot bring more , keep doing it,and lets see how that works out for you.I like to study the consignments ahead of time and decide which lots will benefit my breeding program and what I am willing to pay for the lot. If someone wants to run a lot up,they will eventually get caught with it , they just bought thier lot back and paid commission. If you use your head and pay attention auctions are the best way to find the true top value of anything. My hat is off to all of the auction companies who work hard and keep our industry fun and profitable there will always be a certain percentage of people who will whine about anything. As for me my glass is half full!:D

I have used the site probably more than I should and then I complain about my wife and the TV sales. Anyway there are many ways of finding out the seller, contact them and lots of times there are trends in their appoach. Such as Russ Jr and Sam. I have found that Todd has done a good job with invoices. My issue is the seller and getting semen transfered and communicated its just like the other auctions. Great Lakes set up releases for some auctions which was a great idea, but the sales operations have dropped that idea. When a consigner sells semen he/she should sign a release form at the storage place once the semen sales clears Todd, he sends a form to me already signed and released. Just a thought. All auctions should be set up that way. Then I can go call it in and send it home.

Alex,

Great suggestion with with pre-transfer forms signed upon consignment. This will speed the delivery and take away extra step for seller. I'll review with Todd and Richard today. Drew thursday a Whitetail Exchange caller said he installed a wireless computer in his truck to keep updated and how the Amish love to be to review Exchange when he visits.

Thank You !!

Scott

Alex did I take care of that semen deal we last talked about? Going every different direction and cant even remember what it was. Let me know if I did or did not.

I have always thought names or some sort of identifier should be used. I have watched and do see some trends......last week I called to see who seller was and they couldn't tell me seller wanted to stay anonymous????????????.....had to figure it out on my own. I was high bid but didn't get it bought ....had a reserve on it..... thought it was in no reserve wed...DAAAAAA

As in anything we all want to be Arm Chair Quarterbacks...suggest one thing then complain about another etc........... What needs to be said- what is best for all in the industry?????? Weed out the dirt bags and the self serving turd heads .........go about business the best you can!

I like that....."Turd Heads" that is a great name for them. I feel anytime you hide a name it opens it up for the "Turd Heads" to do their dirty work! Other than someone being able to go directly to the seller and they could....However, this is a NO RESERVE WEDNESDAY AUCTION.......this being said, they must sell their consignment through Whitetail Exchange so going to the buyer would not have an effect on the sale. I see no reason to not have names of the sellers as well as the bidders........this just makes it harder for the "Turd Heads" to do their dirty dealin..........all though most will find away around it ..........it still would help.........I have purchased many straws through Whitetail Exchange with a hitch.....but currently I am having trouble with two straws of semen that I purchased and forget who the sellers name was .....can get their bidder/seller number but know name or info!!!! Putting up the names would just make things so much easier for everyone involved!!

I'll jump in here. If I saw " a big name, big checkbook" person bidding on a item I wanted then I would not even attemp to compete. Really guys, this is the only way to make it fair. Todd and the guys have made it fun, simple and the best site going. Will there be "TURD HEADS"??? YES, but it is up to all of us to weed them out. Shouldn't take to much effort to figure out who most of the guys are. If they own the items for sale then most of their ads will give them away. Lets not ruin a good thing by complaining......

Mike I don't think anyone is really complaining their just suggesting. Whitetail Exchange is doing a great job but everything has a learning curve. I personally would like to see names instead of numbers. Most of us go through life just being a number. It would add a personal touch to the whole thing. Not to mention there are a few Turd Heads I prefer not to do business with.
