I can tell you that I do absolutely EVERYTHING I can do to try to get the sellers the money they have coming to them. I send reminders to late payers, I invoice, I just about beg and plead with the buyers sometimes who pay late.

When a sale is completed each buyer instantly gets an email telling them that they are the winning bidder. This email instructs the buyer to send their money to Whitetail exchange within 7 days. Trust me, the names that are listed were not 7 days late. Some of them are two and a half months late. I try everything I can to get the money for a purchase and as a last resort list their name.

I am very slow to put a name on the web site. Only after I have explored all my other options do I put a name up there. Put yourself in the shoes of the seller. What if you had one straw of semen that you wanted to sell. Say it sells in late July. Now it is mid October and you still haven’t been paid for it. Breeding season is now upon us. So now you can’t get your straw sold this year and next year it is one year older genetics with a whole new crop of deer to compete with. Is your straw worth as much next year?

Feedback only is great in a perfect world. Whitetail Exchange has now completed almost 3000 transactions and I am willing to bet that there is not 300 feedbacks left. I guess the bottom line is that when something is purchased, it should be paid for. If you were the person selling the item you would want me working hard to collect your money.

Todd Morgan

and your real name Shasta?

Todd,

First of all, thanks for all you do on Whitetail Exchange. it's a great site and the industry is fortunate to have it. However, don't get your feelings hurt when people make complaints. Customer feedback is a very valuable thing and positive or negative it helps you improve your business. For the record, I really don't care if you list non-payers, I am not one so I could really care less. I do wish the sellers name was listed, however. I also wish people would take advantage of leaving the feedback and possibly email reminders from WE could help this process. If a buyer wins an auction and doesn't pay, and that person receives negative feedback I guaranttee you that he will have a lot of trouble ever selling anything on WE in the future. The feedback section gives the buyer all the info he / she needs when used properly. In fact, I have a few feedbacks I forgot to leave that I'm going to do right now. Just my thoughts as a consumer.

Paul, I understand the concerns. Like I stated before, if I see Todd Morgan is bidding on something then I know I can't compete with his money. ( Sorry Todd I didn't think you would mind me useing your name) or if one sees a buddys items not bring what it is worth then a guy might run it up. Yes we are all #s in everything we do. I just like the system the way it is. I would like to see a list of the items actually sold from the previous week auction and maybe the buyer and seller could be listed there once the items have closed. Just a thought. I'm sure it takes a lot of effort just to get it done every week.

kowing who is bidding on something is not important to me, I only care to know who the seller is. You go to an auction, they don't call out your name each time you bid on something, but they always tell the name of the consignor.

Steve -

I was thinking the same thing while reading this thread. Heck even at a live auction I can't tell who the heck is bidding most of time! And you're right, very rarely do they mention who bought the lot... it's normally just the buyer's number.

Last week was the first time we used the site to sell and I am was pleased with how they are doing things. We chose to put our farm name and telephone number right on our ad so people knew who they were buying from and could contact us with any questions they might have.

Stop complaining and leave it the way it is. I you have a question for the seller, you can send a message, and ask for thier name. If they wont tell you, make your mind up then.

I can personaly say Todd and the W.E. team work VERY hard on this site. Could you imagin dealing with 75 transactions a week and keeping everybody happy?

I will admit back in the summer, I won a lot, then had some very personal issues come up with my family. Todd done EVERTHING he could do to help me finally get clear. I got a hit on my reputation, but life is not over. If not for W.E., I would not have the breeding options this fall that I have aways wanted. Being able to bid on "one" straw lots really helps the small farmer, and I say, Thank You, for that.

Oh...The only thing I recommend for myself, is a pre-paid card, so I dont get in a mess again.lol

Reed,

Are you suggesting that we do Whitetail Exchange gift cards? LOL What a great idea!

ANYONE who puts an item in the Wednesday No Reserve Auction is welcome to put their name on the consignment. We have allowed this for quite some time. It is the sellers option. The only time that contact information is not allowed is on items that are not in the No Reserve auction. This is for obvious reasons.

We are definitely learning under fire here. Last November we sold 22 straws of semen. Last week we sold 70. I REALLY appreciate everyones suggestions. The only way that we learn and make things better is to either get suggestions or screw up and learn from our mistakes. As you can all see by the time of this post, I am still working on Friday night at 11:00.

Thank you to everyone that uses the site. We have some new and exciting things in the works. Click on the auction for Typhoon (in the voucher eligible semen category) for a sneak preview. Richard at Apple Creek has been working overtime for about a month or two to get this working.

On a side note, the Wednesday No Reserve Sale starts at 7:00pm and ends at 11:00pm Eastern time each week. Any consignments that end outside that timeframe are not in the no reserve sale. That is why they can have reserves.

Todd Morgan

Check that on the Typhoon consignment. I guess we are having tachnical difficulties. Will fix. Check back on the consignment in a couple of days and it will be fixed.

I would like to see the results of the auctions - what did an item finally sold for. Most auctions post this information on their websites a few days after the auction - or in the case of on line auctions previously they always kept it up for a while with a sold and the final amount. Most auctions do not list who bought an item. Although I certainly wouldn't be opposed to that - especially with an on line auction where no matter how hard you try, it is easy for things to be manipulated.

What I do so I can see the results of the auction is put them in my watched items. That way you can reference to them later at your convenience. Maybe this might help you.

Todd, you guys are doing a great job....the more i think of it......the turd heads will eventually end up sinking themselves in the long run.......keep up the great work!! I do like th idea of being able to see what the previous weeks Auctions went for...sometimes i will be in a bidding war and then get busy and come on a day later and find out i was outbid.....it would just be nice to see what the item ended up going for.....but if that can't be done thats ok.....love the site !!

can anybody tell me why people put a high reserve on a item and then start it out at 100.00 If you want to have a reserve on a item just start it out at that price.

Todd, Make a section where we can request a straw that we are looking for.... That way the seller knows and will put it up for sale.

Feedback only works if people leave it

I have left feedback for the salers and have not got feedback from them.

Same here Rick, I have left feedback for every transaction, yet only received half myself.

Todd, I think you guys do a great job. You have created a ONE-STOP semen shop. I do agree with the complaint about the feedback. It seems a little one sided. Perhaps a feedback could be left by you for each successful purchase that is made when you receive payment, and a seperate feedback when the straws are successfully exchanged by the seller. I have a couple straws that I paid for several weeks ago, that I am having trouble getting released to me.

But, ALL-IN-ALL I think your site is fantastic and you guys are doing a great job. I personally applaud what the whitetail exchange has done for our industry. THANK YOU !!

I like that idea! Since WE is different from other online sites where the money is first sent to WE till the check clears, it makes great sense that WE could leave a positive feedback for people that pay.

Steve,

Your idea on rating buyers payment and sellers fullfillment is great thank you. We will review how it could be added. Also we are looking at ways to add a pre-release form when the seller consignes straws. After payment check clears, WE would e-mail auto release to holder of straws. This could avoid any delays in seller poor follow up.

Best of success to all your breeding,

Scott
