whos not TB and brus. acredited and cert

I have been since I started, but mine will run out in 2 months and I am not retesting. I live in PA, in one of the counties that found CWD in the wild. Almost all states are no longer excepting deer from Blair county, except Ohio. I figure I might as well not test if I can't sell out of state anyway. I can still sell to PA hunting preserves and that's all that matters to me.

I think that unless your really chasing the breeder market ( which is really tough, LOTS of good deer out there), its a lot simpler to just raise yourself some decent bucks and sell to preserves. If you do want to raise some high dollar, high quality breeding stock you should probably test, because you will not have much a market if you don't. Most farms are tested.

Don't get discouraged if your not tb/ bruc certified, if you raise big bucks preserves will still buy them. Preserves/ hunting facilities are allowed to accept non tb/ bruc. tested deer.

We are TB accredited but not brucellosis. Only one test is required to move a deer almost anywhere and to do a whole herd is costly.

Thanks for clearing up the hunting preserve. That was gonna be my next question. What is required to get TB and brus accred and cert. How many times do you have to test the deer and how far apart do you test them?

I believe it is one blood test and they are good to go.......that's why Wild said he doesn't do the whole herd only one at a time if ge needs to move them....

You may be right I always tested my whole herd When i tested for TB....so I am not certain.....I thought it was just a blood test.....TB you have to test every three years for sure...

I will be testing my whole herd. I guess I'll ask my local vet and see if he knows then I guess I'll talk to the department of AG.

This is my year, my test date is set for Sept. 10

Anything over 1 year old has to be tested, I have 13 that are being tested.

They have to drow 10cc from each deer. They run both test from it if they

have a positive result they run a second test on the same blood. If they get a

second positive that deer has to have the shot test.

If all are negative you are good for 3 years.

My Vet is 80 miles away and yes I have to pay travel.

Total of 20 deer are getting the Newport EHD vaccine.

13 that are being tested.

And the cost for all comes up to $1,780.00

Hope that helps everyone

I live in Indiana.

Since we have over 500 deer on our breeding farm you can see how testing can get pretty costly. If we use the TB blood test the next time we will consider doing the brucellosis test as well depending on cost. We aren't due to TB test for another year.

I'm not sure about your info. I did the T.B blood test with the Brucellosis test as well and that isn't how it worked here in Missouri, I went through it and that ain't how it works at all. I believe it is Federal USDA protocol I think you should look into it a little more....Check out the other T.B thread... If there is a positive? Your Quarantined! Second test no sooner then 30 days, Positive on the second test? That Deer is gonna Die! Quarantine for 60 days until the virus grows or doesn't grow....That's how it works.....I'm Quarantined now, and that is how it works....
