I have noticed that not to many peple have recomended to give a tetanus toxoid vaccine. usually they are only giving a C&D type vaccine not a CD&T. ?I am asking mainly due to a pen that I am building is located where years ago some one used a low area in it as a trash pit. I have cleaned it up pretty good and back filled with dirt. But I keep finding small pieces of fence and nails throughout the area. I dont recall anyone on the forum having an issue with tetanus. Are deer resistant to tetanus?

For our elk we use bar vac CD/T. The 9way we used year ago is no longer being made.

Most of the combo vaccines that cover the common clostridia strains include tetanus, it just doesn't get mentioned much. Cattle and goats are susceptible to tetanus, so I would assume deer could also be.

I have been using ultrabac 8 and it doesn't specifically say that it is for Tetanus.

Should I just add a Tetanus vaccine with this or go with a CD&T.

It seems to me that the later would not cover as many things. Is anyone else doing this or is there a reason not to.

I know that in the past there have been discusions on toxoid and anti-toxin I found some good info on this that may help to understand better, here is the link http://www.hunternutrition.com/artsheepvaccination.html

We use an 8 way as well as the CD/t. Some of it over laps but the vet said it wont hurt.
