I will soon have no stakes in the fire any longer......so if I get banned form this site so be it!! I have never in my life seen an Industry quite like this one..........I used to think it was solid and everyone had each others back....actually, years ago I think it was that way.........NOT NOW........everyone seems to have their own agenda.........there is know unity what so ever!! Some would just as soon cut your throat as to save you!! Yes this fund raiser for the Brakkes, held by WTE was awesome and there were some funds raised.....however, even it was a a JOKE! We couldn't even get up to 100 donations......and the donations that were graciously supplied went for way less than their face value!! THAT IS AND SHOULD BE EMBARRASSING FOR THE INDUSTRY! For an Industry that is in as much trouble as this one is.......those donations should have been flying in!! And they still should be!! Very few of the big Deer Farmers who have made millions in this industry are anywhere to be found......personally, I

wouldn't give them another dime until they show they are in the fight.......oh there will be

some that come on here and say ....you have know idea what I have donated or what money I

have given to this industry......that's a big cop out!! What I do know is the Brakkes fight is one

of ...IF NOT THE BIGGEST......fight this industry has faced! And very few of the big dogs

donated towards the WTE fund raiser....we know which ones did....and which ones didn't!....

SAD...to say the least........what a lot of you little guys better realize real soon is the big boys

don't need you.......you will come and then fade away...they will feed off all the new poor

souls that enter in year after year......they want the turn around....they want new people that need deer........there are a lot of good farmers out there big and small.....I have made some of my best friends in this industry......but right now there is absolutely NO Unity........NONE! And

if you ALL don't open your eyes up real soon it will be too late........I have never sued a single

person in my life.......never had a reason too.......so I am not one to throw that card out to

often.....However, THIS IS YOUR ONLY AVENUE AT THIS POINT! This is the only way you will

make any headway! Otherwise you can continue to sit back and keep having regulation after

regulation shoved down your throat till you can't take it any more!! It's your choice........keep

sitting on your hands and doing nothing or wake up and fight for your cause!! You All control

your own destinations and I can't say I feel sorry for you any longer.........IF I ACTUALLY SAW YOU BANNING TOGETHER FIGHTING.....then maybe my feelings would be different.....you reap what you sow..........and by doing nothing.....Well........you tell me the answer to that one! Tell me what you expect to gain!!!!!:mad::mad:

agreed Dennis,

the fundraiser raised 38K and how much has the suit cost to date? last I heard was 300K. This industry could and should do better. They could have turned their backs and said "have a nice life" to the rest of us. Instead, knowing they are right and that they could get nothing out of this except a huge lawyer bill, have taken on the monster that I venture to say nobody else would have. I gave and I bought totaling around $1000. I figure that is the least I could do to help their fight.

I'm afraid we are not reaching enough people on this site. Maybe it is time for another mass mailing to people. They need to know what is happening with our case and with all the border issues. Thank you all for your support.

Rhonda, Unfortunately most people are aware of your case and others. While a few of us sacrifice "all" far too many are only worried about what they "personally" face right now on their own farm. You just have to know we unselfishly did what was right for an industry whether they acknowledge or support us.

You are very accurate with the above statement Rhonda. This site only represents a very small number of the total deer farmers throughout the country.

And I will disagree that most people know about your case. Based on my conversations there are the same old people that area aware, but when you venture outside of the group that's "involved", you will find that many people have no clue about what's happening with your case, let alone what's going on with the rest of the industry. I've literally had people call me and say, so what's this Brakke case all about? Is it something I should be supporting? HELL YES, was my answer!

There has to be a way to generate better communication to our industry at large. In my opinion, this can be facilitated through the auction houses, at the actual auctions, and in all of the sales catalogs, magazines, gazettes, and any other publications that the deer farming community receives. In addition, a special mailing should be run to generate further reach, and the headline should read OUR INDUSTRY IS UNDER ATTACK!

Michael you are right. This should be TOP priority for every state association right now. Every member should be notified and all non-members should be contacted. I am afraid that will never happen, too many have their heads in the sand. I think when this business is just a hobby to many they plain don't care. Maybe the ACA could provide help or suggestions and maybe take the lead. I would be more than willing to make some phone calls. Travis??????

I agree 100% Mike. And now with the auction season already started there needs to be something out of all the auctions go to the Brakkes. I mean hell there fighting for all us.

Most of you know on this site I sell the PMSG for the industry. You are very right in that most people I talk to don't know about the Brakkes or the Florida boarder problem as they have my name from other sources. Most elk people know nothing about any of this. We have only made contact with so few of our people. I do admit with the 2600 people on this site we sure didn't have a good amount of help from them on this problem and should look for more ways to communicate with all deer and elk producers.

To Bad that Tom and Rhonda Brakke don't live in North Dakota. Bet they would get MORE SUPPORT then!! Especially Financial.......Sure makes ya wonder??

Yes, and the whisper campaign that we were offered a lucrative deal and turned it down for greed has proven false from depositions and court transcripts. I have given transcripts to the ACA attorneys so they can get a quick education on how states are reacting to the new Standards. Also shared some quotes with state associations to help any way possible in their border battles across the country, not just Iowa.

I think it's a great idea to have the word spread at the auctions....however, as I said before unfortunately there is NO unity within the Industry! There was just an Auction in Ohio running the same time as the Brakkes Fund raiser on WTE........do you think there was any annoucments at that auction? NO!..... And I know for certain they knew it was going on! Until people decide we need to ban together and fight for the common cause......nothing is going to happen......now if all the auctions would agree to charge a percentage of each sale to go towards all the battles this industry is facing....that would be a step in the right direction!!

I would like everyone to know that we in North Dakota are very grateful for the money NADeFA sent in 2010. We fought the good fight for five years.

As everyone knows, Montana got shut down with Initiative-143 back in 2000. What most don't know is the very persons instrumental in I-143 then drove over to ND and started the shooting match here. It starts with public forums where an embedded message is sold to the public. Your local Game and Fish or DNR are supposed to be neutral and will deny any culpability.

In 2005 our people turned out and we held our own very well. But it was a war of attrition. Their side lost interest with all the fearmongering ect. and slowly faded. But so did our people who raise cervids. One by one they tired of the fight.

In 2010 we won the last battle or Initiated Measure. There were only about five of us left who actively carried the fight. My post here is not meant to discourage because, you see our opponents were also down to a handful of persons. And in the end, our opponents ended up tarred and feathered because in their desperation they gambled everything and accepted $150,000 from HSUS to fund their TV Ads.

In the opening post, Dennis mentioned that some of the big boys who have made a lot of money off of their deer are absent now. We in ND experienced the same thing. Most are business men and will move their money to the next big investment. Don't wait for them to provide the leadership or the money. They won't be in the front row heckling the MDC at those public forums and they won't be putting up money to print flyers or rent a fun bus to get everyone to those meetings. It's up to you.

In North Dakota we won every fight that came our way. Our Treasury is very low but not our resolve. Thanks again to NADEFA for the contribution back in 2010.

In my opinion.......................This is what many DO NOT understand about OUR Industry and many of those involved in this business. Many are Multi Milloinares and are doing this ONLY as an Investment...............When the money dries up they will shift their funds and their focus to the next "Big Thing"!

If WE are looking for Help......................We had better keep looking at ourselves for help........................I for one do not feel like the Calvary is comin any time soon!
