My name is Ben Kron, I am 20 years old and from southern Indiana. I was thinking earlier and I am curious as to if there is anyone else my age or younger that owns their own whitetail deer farm too? I started when i was 18, and a senior in highschool. Nothing important. Just curious.

Ben I am in central Illinois and I'm 24yrs old but I started deerfarming when I was 19. You probly already know this but it's been a tuff road for me as a youngster trying to get started and keep the farm progressing and now that I'm 24 I can say it doesn't get any easier but I wouldn't trade it for anything. Good luck my young friend!

Ben my name is Kyle from southeast m.n. I have been raising whitetails since I was 15 and in the 9th grade I have had lots of challenges along the way,all of them learning. I have been doing this as a hobby now for 15 years now and wouldn't have it any other way. To wach my kids get excited to go out and pet the deer or just want to be out there with them is priceless. Good luck with all your deer farming adventures.

Ben

I talked to you on the phone a month or two back. I Started at 19 and am 21 now. I grew my first 400" buck this year and am moving this fall and hopefully expanding next spring. This is a great business!

Wow it's great to know that there a few younger deer farmers in our industry!

I just turned 20 last week. I started raising whitetails with my father when I was 10 years old. I am so blessed to already have 10 years of experience in this industry. I hope all of you guys become successful as well.

Ben, I am not nearly as young as you but I will tell you I feel young when I am around the deer. I am 48 going on 18 and I say welcome, love the animal and enjoy the ride

I was 28 when I started playing deer I am 50 now and I have loved every day of it. But like Robert said watch out for the hustler. good luck

hey ben I'm Reed Sander from northern minnesota started when i was 18 and now im 20 a great industry to be in.

I'm 19 now and we started raising deer 2 years ago and I bought my first doe from Laurie Seale then. I did all of the reasearch and my dad funded everything. This past summer was our first time bottle feeding. My younger brother and I raised 4 fawns and it was a definately a full time job! It was definately worth all of the hard work when you go in the pen and all the fawns come running up to you. We also have some deer from Jarrod Washburn and we purchased our breeder "Mindfreak" from him last fall. I would have to say that getting into the deer business is the best decision we ever made dispite how the market looks.

Im 24 now got into it when i was still in school. I have a full time job and have the deer also lots of ups and downs in the deer farming ill say but the people in this market are unlike any other. We all seem to help each other and keep each other going even when everyone seems to be hurting. Good luck and dont let the little things get you down.

Ben, I was 15 when I bought my first deer and am 19 and have almost 40 deer and doing very well. I actually gave up four wheeler racing for it. I was on my way going pro had a bad wreck and said it wasn't worth it and started raising deer. I have had my best year this year with fawns and my bucks. I would never give it up for anything. I wish you the best of luck. If you need anything give me a call. I would be happy to help ya out.

Wow I thought I was the only young guy here but I guess I am not alone. I started when I was 20 and I am now 24. I have totally funded my operation by my self so no 400" deer yet but I have a couple coming up with 400" genetics so it may be just around the bend.

I'm actually 23 and trying to get started in the deer farming business out here in new mexico, gane and fish onl lets you raise mule deer though.just curious how much did you guys spend to get started? Buying tyre deer, building fences any tips would be nice.

i started out with 4 bred does. paid 2500 a piece. had about another 10k in fencing. but i had someone else put my fence up because, well i just didnt really know how. but i also used all fiberglass posts, which do cost quite a bit more. but i like that it allows a little give in my fence incase one hits it. im not going to lie though, if you dont really know what you are doing, dont spend a ton on your deer for a year or two till you figure a few things out. once you have a better clue then upgrade your genetics to produce the bigger deer. but remember, one of the best things i was always told about deer is you cant take a doe that is an erkle and breed it to shaq, you still have erkle. basically you need a good doe to produce good bucks

Hey Ben my name is Nate . I started my deer farm with my father in law when I was 28. We are up here just north of fort Wayne. It has been an awesome industry for us so far too. Wouldn't trade it for anything!! Just hope I can do it full time in a few years!!
