Fawn is drinking water but not milk??

Recently had to start bottle feeding an about 3-4 week old fawn (Something broke in and killed mother/attacked the fawn, and she was our only doe since we are very new to this) The fawn is fine, however he won't drink the calf milk replacer we've tried with him, or goat milk. He will drink...

    Red Cap milk for fawns

Hey everyone, hopefully this isn't a dumb question. I work all day and can't be home to feed every 4 or 6 hrs. If I give fawns red cap milk how long will that hold them over? Any suggestions for this dilemma?

    Milk Replacer

Alright guys I know everyone has different ideas on what fawn replacer to use but I have heard from a few people now that they just use Vitamin D milk that you would pick up at your local grocery store. What's everyone's thought one that and what does everyone use and/or recommend?

RED CAP MILK - CAN YOU FREEZE IT?

Anybody out there ever freeze their red cap milk before feeding it to your fawns?  Sam's Club is the cheapest source I can find but the closest one is 70 miles away.  I would need to buy large quantities and freeze it if that will work. What are your thoughts? Thanks....Bill

    No milk sack

We just had the tiniest triplets born to a momma who while loving on them appears to have no milk sack. Does the milk sack ever come in after birth? They are not crying although trying to suckle. Advice? Do we wait a few hours and pull them for colostrum if nothing happens? Anyone have this...

What to look for in milk replacers?

Yet another question! As fawn season is approaching (no fawns just yet though) we decided to switch from using whole milk, like we did last year, to using milk replacer as it was cheaper, Save-A-Caf Ultra 24 multi-species milk replacer is what we purchased. I know, I know, cheaper is not always...

Bottle Rearing Fawns with Goat Milk

Does anyone have advise about bottle raising 2012 whitetail fawns with goat's milk? I am entertaining the idea, but not sure to go with milk replacers or goat's milk. Have experience bottle rearing hoofstock like reindeer calves, goat kids, nilgai, zebra foals, beef cattle, bison and others...
