What is the best feed/product to attract deer?? I am new to the forum and was wondering what is the best way to get deer to eat protein feed or is there something else out there that they really go nuts over. I have heard rice bran is really great but they don't seem to go crazy over it. Thank for the info

We notice when we pour out thw feed and top dress it with Golden Deer nuggets and mix in well they will eat everything to get to the nuggets. We purchase ours at Tractor Supply. That is what works for us.

Mix in a little sweet feed from your local feed store. We mix our own and we add molasses to ours.We only use 20lbs of it in a 500lbs mix of different grains and beans that we use. You are where it gets hot and it seems like if you use alot of it you will see an increase in flies.

Extruded Soybean Meal...................... you can use it and they will eat anything! Use it sparingly as it will make them loose if you give to much at a time. Calf Manna is also a good choice

I guess that you are talking wild deer. If so I think that it is hard to beat standing soybeans. I have alfalfa, clover, oat, corn and soybean plot's it will give them food all year. They hit my beans hard Dec-March untill the green crop's start growing or the bean's are all gone. But it's not like our wild deer dont have all that they can eat most of the year any way. Just in winter when the farm field's are empty they have to look.

No, I am talking about my penned deer. The rut just finished here in mid February. I normally feed max rax and corn but was wondering if other farmers added something extra to put the weight back on.

They can't really eat donuts, even plain ones, can they? I know you were joking curtis, but that made me think if it was possible since they use flour and vegetable oil.

Mine like bagels, bread and donuts. A little jelly on the bread is a real treat. A little won't hurt them and keeps them interested in what you have for them. A good way to give some meds when needed too.

We have used Record Racks Golden Deer Nuggets. They have a wild berry taste and smell and are 13% protein. Its better then corn and will hold up to morning dew if put on to the ground or into an open feeder. Plus you get yeast cultures that help the digestibility. Better than corn. I have actually used it to help start fawns on pellets as well. Good product for deer farmers and hunters alike
