5 years ago we stocked one of our hunting preserves with some of our best does. The results have been tremendous as we are seeing a good number of very nice bucks being born out in the preserves. Here are a few photos of some 3 and 4 year olds that were born at our newest preserve. Some of the photos are from July. Hopefully these bucks have grown a decent amount since the photos were taken. Note some of the dates on the photos are not correct.

Greg, I assume you use the trail cameras to plan your hunts, seeing what you have and stocking to put in place what you need on the preserve. In Canada we can't put does on the preserves,( tagging rules/laws), Do you have to cull does from the preserve to keep a sustainable herd? And I was wondering if you ever DNA any of the Preserve bred bucks to see their linage?

We do have to cull does from our preserves every year to manage the deer numbers. It really is unfortunate that you guys cannot have does in the preserve. I would estimate that 1/2 of the big bucks we will harvest this year were born to does inside the preserve.
In regards to DNA. We have not DNA'd any of the bucks harvested as of yet. It might be hard just because some of the big deer we harvest may actually be sons of bucks and does that were born in our preserves.

The 2nd photo is a Bucky Jr 3 year old son. The mother is a daughter of our Y7 doe. Y7 is Reggie's mom. She has produced many great sons and daughters.
Both of these bucks were over 200 as 2 year olds in 2008.

Greg, I might be conceivable that in five years the preserve will rival the farm. Sometimes deer that are ...ok on the farm,blossom on the preserve. As you continue to stock your preserve some of your newer genetics will most likely create a critical mass. Here in Canada to be legal you can't draw semen from preserve animals because of the TB testing requirements of drawing semen to the international standard, the only legal way to draw semen for sale here. Do you have any limitations stopping you from doing a draw from a preserve buck, tranqued or postmortum?
