I just bought 2 first generation sons of Sun Dragon. Yes first generation sons not third or fourth. Their mom was from Fear Factor. They are two years old. I also have a three year old and three yearlings that genetics come from Rolex, X-factor, and Fear Factor. I never planned on being a breeder but I think the genetics in these deer are of a quality I believe there would be interest in. Would anyone on here be interested in buying semen and/or give me some advice on what I should possibly do? Any help or interest is welcome. Thank you.

Ok I will. As yearlings they scored 185. I just got them yesterday and one of them we are estimating at 22-24 inches wide and he's still growing.

Although those are some pretty decent names in todays deer everybody has a big deer. I would guess you would be lucky to even sell enough straws to get you collection price back. Its sad to say but so true. I have a tank full of those kinds of straws that went for $100 each. My advice would be to use your producing blood to yourself and use it to make stocker bucks that you can move and pay the bills. Those 24 plus inch bucks are the ones that bring top dollar. Thats what you want to keep making. Good Luck in your venture.

do you have the sheds or a pic of him from last year? He has a lot of bone to push in the next two months
Four seasons that's why I tried to get pic of him walking away. He angled on me. Yes 26-27 in is what we see roughly in person. I try my best to get good pics but I haven't gotten the one yet that shows it. I guess I'll just wait til August, September and post then.

You might not have liked the answer, however four seasons gave you a true and real world answer to your question.
Sorry if you find this too honest. But you have what in today's world is a nice deer. Nothing special enough to collect semen with the idea of making any real money.
I would recommend growing him out and enjoy yourself raising him. Live breed your does and see what you produce.

So hard to be honest at times and try not to hurt feelings. We all love our deer and at tmes our eyes are a little to big when we say they score this or that or he is such and such wide! You know better than most how hard it is in todays deer. A guy wants to pay the bills he needs to not worry about trying to get involved in any of the..Breeding Game.. Make your own producing bucks and leave them at home to do just that.
Independence Ranch - I don't know how this turned into a feed about how I didn't like an answer. I believe I said thank you for your opinion. As far as the width - I see him every day. It's fine if the angle didn't prove it to you guys. And to be honest come September I will post a final picture and we will see what he eventually scored. I told you guys I know nothing about breeding. If you feel the need to bash me go right ahead. I however never said anything to anyone that their opinion wasn't warranted. Thank you for your opinion.

I think you might be misinterpreting these opinions. I don't think the comments were meant to be discouraging or degrading to you. They are just honest, respectable opinions, and some solid advice. You should visit other farms for comparison, and make the decision that you feel is right for you. No disrespect, he's a nice buck.

Sonny you are turning it into a thread about this. Four Seasons gave you input addressing your exact question. You didn't like the answer and talked about how you owe it to try. I gave my thoughts also basically by agreeing with Four. If you wanting people to blow smoke up your dress then you should have said so. However we assumed you wanted truth. If you want to spend money collecting semen and such go ahead. In fact, yes he looks so great you should not only collect him. You should *** the semen also. Last I heard that was only $7k per buck to do. And you never know, he might give you a good collection. If you can get about 20 male straws you can sell them for about $350 each and break even. What you can also do is run a contest and pay out $50k to whoever grows the biggest yearling from a straw they bought from you.
