Question about safe-guard dewormer pellets

I used safe-guard pellets to worm my deer a couple of weeks ago and I was just wondering if I need to worm them again within 30 days of the first worming with safe-guard or a differnt kind of wormer, or was the first worming all I needed to do. I would like to know how you guys go about it.

We use Safe-Guard pellets too...and works real good.....we mix it with Breeder Texture feed made by Purina Mills so they can eat it fast. We give them safe-guard twice a year.

we use one treatment of safeguard in the spring then eprinex ( ivomec product) in the fall,

Thanks for the suggestions, I will not worm them again at the 30 day mark then. Curtis are you talking about the pour on ivomec.

Dave, I use the safegaurd pellet a few times a year and usually rotate with Ivermec pour on and Dectomax injectible. Whenever I feed safegaurd, I cut back all feed other than safegaurd for 3 days (and hay), then wait two weeks and do it again for 3 days.

Hey Steve,

When I gave them the safe-guard pellets I didn't cut any feed back. Is there a reason I should have and you think I ought to hit them again with the safe-guard pellets, it's been about 2 to 3 weeks now?

P.S. just so we are on the same page, these pellets are not part of a feed ration from ADM or anyone else.

Here is a link of what I am talking about http://www.jefferslivestock.com/ssc/product.asp?CID=2&pf_id=0027125

Thanks for the input...Dave

Glad you clarified. The safegaurd I use comes in a balanced pellet which is why I cut off all other feed so it forces them to eat only that for the 3 days. Since yours is a top dressing then you were right to mix it with other feed rations. I would still do it for another round right now if it's been 2-3 weeks. This will kill all the larve that hatched and weren't killed in the first round of treatment. This will get all of them.

we use safegaurd liquid in the feed 3x the label directions, then use panicure the next time then ivormec plus the next time plus we use ivormec plus 2x a year when we run them thru the chute but thats just what we do. good luck

We use Purina Deer Chow Exotic wormer pellets. Unlike safeguard, they gobble it up, no problems getting them to eat it. when I used safeguard they would pick around it or not eat at all. with the Purina they do not even hesitate. Works for me.

Yea I know they pick around it but I don't refill the feed until it's gone. They don't hold out too long before they get hungry, a half of a day at the most.
