I have less than 72 hours to decide how to breed these 4 does. I won't lie and tell you I don't know what I am going to be doing. But I have to admit this year seems much more fuzzy for me than previous years.

Take a look at the 4 does I have CIDR's in and will be pulling tonight to a/i on Monday. Then take a look at this list of semen. The list isn't all I have but enough to make it fun for everyone.

How would you breed each doe?

Roger, bring them down to me and I'll turn them in with my monster 4-year old. He has a great pedigree and I think he'd score around 27" as a 3-pointer. Monster spread at about 11". Then you won't have to decide!
 
Roger in all honesty........I bet when your all done with this little thread you will be more undecided than when you started out....best otion is to let me those girls up and take the problem off your hands!! like I said what are friends for!!!!!!!!
 
Michael, I am not trying to rub anything on anyone. Just having some fun. Tis the season for this stuff. A lot of people have some really good deer.

Other years I have been really cut and dried on what I would be doing. This year is a little more puzzling/interesting for me.

Hmmmm, I find the results so far a little surprising though.

Come on guys, I would like everyone to jump in on this thread and toss ideas around. Post some of your own doe peds and what you have for semen choices. See if other would breed the way you are going to breed.

It just all for fun and games:)
 
Roger my 2 cents worth would have to say from the list that Shadow would be my first and only choice. Do you have 2 straws? This is why I say Shadow. You would be adding Maxbo, Superdoe, Max, Y 27, and Wald. Boomer on top of some of the best doe pedigrees any one could ask for. What more could you want? Especilally if you want them to bring big $$$ at an auction because certain folks would give big money for that type of production! Next if you have only one straw of Shadow I would have to go with Maximus DT just to add in Maxbo and Blue 37, not to mention Maximus DT has some huge sons at Tims down there in Oklahoma. By using Maximus Dt you are adding arguably the best sire to ever live in Maxbo and Maybe the best doe to ever live in B 37. B 37 and Superdoe have to be the 2 best does ever produced and that produced themselves. They both are production factories. Name me 2 other does that you can even compare in big sons and inches of antler?

semen choices would be: Maxbo, Shadow, Hardcore, Maxbo XL, Gladiator, Marty Graw, Maximus DT, Maxbo Dream, Tonto, Gold Bucky Boy, PJ, Double Down and Rolex

We have ours set for the year, however, if I can keep the alive then it might help me out for next year.
 
First you have to decide if you want to sell the fawns or are breeding deer.



Breeding deer, the first two does should be bred to Poncho. Pebbles is one of the best does to ever live and you have an opportunity to bring her forward in these pedigree, increasing her influence on the babies.



The second two does to Maximus DT, Again bringing in pebbles into the mix 2 more times and Max as the father to DT.



Save, Bucky and Big Guy for the daughters from the above breedings.



If you want to sell them, bred them to anything you think someone else will like.

grace COULD BE OUT CROSSED (BUT) PONCHO'S TWIN IS THE ANCORE DOE AND I WOULD BREED HER BACK TO PONCHO

Updraft is a great buck. He will no doubt produce, and his straws are free to you, so I would breed him to the two maxbo does.



I prefer the younger, deeper bred sires, so I would pick either Rolls Royce, Shadow, or Sundownder, I prefer Rolls Royce) and split one of the straws for the other two does. Then I would sell the rest of the semen. You could probably get at ton of money for thoses straws! And put it back into my breeding program. to either buy another power doe, or some kind of other special semen I wanted for next year.



This is a fun game!

I threw together this for an idea on your does there Michael. Ten does are a lot to break down the thought process on. I would love to do it, but I am being forced to go by my moms because my sister is in town. She lives in NE and has graced the family with her presence:confused: So off I go to waste, ah oh um visit for a while.



Everyone posting on our does. Thanks much and I hope it is fun to stir the mind about possible pairings. I am enjoying reading everyone's thoughts.

Roger... I would go with fred on this. The power of their pedigree will do more to help your herd for years to come. And would keep the other semen to power up my "future" POWER does! GOOD LUCK
 
About 24 hours to go. I find it very interesting the different thinking that we all have. There are some others who I would love to see contribute to the discussion.

There have been some who have given an explanation with their choices. I like that because it shows how they are thinking about their choices. The one exact explanation for a particular breeding still has not been pointed out yet. Hint. What has John Swank spoke about many times in his posts?

This thread was intended to be fun and educational for everyone. I am not saying I know everything, but many very smart breeders are on this forum. I would like people to share their thoughts and help others learn.

Again, this wasn't started to get others to tell me what I should do. I know what I am doing tomorrow with our does. Always have:)

After this thread slows down I will give my thoughts on why I did what I did.
