I've always heard "down here in Texas" that our lions wintered in Canada.... (it's compulsive being a Texan). 'reckon the cat must have lost 80-100 pounds gettin' from Texas to your place, Curtis.

Don't kid yourself animals can travel a long ways.... back in the mid 80's a wolf was shot by a hunter 12 miles SE of Carrot River, SK., it had a radio collar that was put on in Minnesota....600 miles away

Scrape - no joke. As recently as 15 or so years ago, along the Brazos River bottoms near I-10 (between Houston to San Antonio) a farmer had something getting into his chicken house and killing all of his layers. The wire was ripped wide open, from top to bottom, and dead chickens were half burried all over the yard, in addition to the ones eaten on the spot. Yep, you guessed it, a bear. Pretty far south for a bear, don't you think?

Robbie, That's something. I would lie..errr...joke with Curtis about our bears going up there too, BUT...I have my limits!! (besides, Curtis would have a better comeback).

In a one on one fight I am sure the cat would win, my dogs work together as a well oiled machine with military precision, the thing that makes the dogs job easier is the cats natural fear of dogs and the flight instinct that they have, they are an opportunistic hunter and exercise great discretion

Hey, Curtis. Do you have a good population of lions in your area, or do you seldom hear of them. I have seen three in the wild, one in Nevada when I was 8 yr's old, and two in Texas. One of the two I saw in Texas is what the ranch mng'r called a Mexican brown, which was a darker color than the other two I saw. Since he was about the color of mud, I guess you could say he was a "mud cat". Ha-Ha. B.T.W. do you know what a mud cat is? I bet Robbie does!

I have seen 13 in the wild here in sask in the last 25 years, we have no hunting season and if you trap one you have to turn itin to the DNR, the DNR brought in a guy with a pack of cougar dogs and tracked ,tranqued and collared three , so I think we have a decent population but with our government I don't think we will ever have a hunting season.......we don't even have a hunting season for wolves or coyotes for non-resident hunters to which every deer hunter would buy a tag with and if the coffers, and increase the deer population as well
