First: Fawn is 6 weeks old, nursing on mother. Looks healthy by weight, color of coat, bright eyes, alert, etc. Farmhand noticed yesterday he was arching back with tail up but having hard time pooping. She caught sample and tested for parasite, showed some sign of strongyle. Today we watched again as he had hard time pooping, this time I was here and captured poop sample, took photo and smelled of it. It has a very strong sour smell that is very similiar to a fawns poop that we had last week that died.

Second: The fawn that died was found dehydrated, so we worked on her for 24 hours before losing her. She wanted nutrition and absorbed all the IV we gave her, but poop was like water and had strong sour smell. I remember it well, because she laid in my lap for hours and pooped all over me. (not complaining, we just do what we have to do!)

I suspect Cl Perfringen, could I be on the right track? As you can tell my pic of poop we are not at water diarhea stage yet, but it is soft, gray and slimy. almost like a chewed buble gum consistency.

Please help me.
