Antlers 2012

Thanks Virgil. I will put that straw I got from you in one of my best wide typical does. We will be doing LAP AI on whitetail this year.

Thats because they still pay and sell by the inch.

Mike that's the problem. If that is what the deer hunter shoots first then the farmer should be rewarded for raising deer that the hunter wants. My opinion. I really don't think it would be that hard to have a different pay scale for big clean typicals. From what I hear from different people the shift is going back toward typicals than for the non-typical inches. If that buck was put in a sale what would he bring? not near what he is worth as a breeder!!!!!

It still all comes down to supply and demand, if these clean typicals are in such demand then the guys who own them should just hold out for more money, if its true they'll be able to sell them for a premium. If you have a 200 inch typical standing there in front of a hunter and a 275 inch non-typical for the same price, I'd bet most would shoot the non-typical buck. As an outfitter, I guarantee you in the wild, if an area has a 180 typical and a 250 non-typical, they'd shoot the non-typical first every time.

I am all with that! Supply and demand is correct. He would bring whatever the going price is for a 200+in deer is selling for. I would think he would sell faster as a shooter in todays market. He has that width!

im thinking you guys have to have all sorts of deer in your hunting areas , you never know who your going to get in to hunt or what they want to shoot ? They might want a ( x ) buck but they see ( z ) buck and say i want him , if ( z ) wernt their you could not sell him , just my 2 cents, thats about all it s worth ,
