I am curious as to the area of North America that EHD was killing deer this year. I live in North East Iowa and have never had it come this far. I did hear of a breeder 30 miles from me that had 4 bucks drop dead in early October but don't have conformation as to if it was EHD. So if everyone could chime in if they didn't have it or did , we could get an idea as to the area and time it was there. Thanks Jim

I Live in south central Missouri I didnt personally loose any this year but have farmers withing 20 minuets of me that lost several

I know all western PA was effected all the way up to Lake Erie........it was spotty but it did effect the whole western part of PA...not sure how far East it got though....

Im in Alabama and have not heard of anyone losing any here. Its a good idea to map but i think that it is a better idea to look at those of you who have not lost any and compare things to the ones who have lost some right next to you. There has to be a pattern.

There was a bunch of cases in the free ranging herd of southern WI. I believe michigan was hit pretty heavily with it as well.

Northeast Indiana here, an I didn't lose any in my pens, but surrounding counties have reported numerous losses in the wild.

Thanks for the comments...my intent is not to cure anything but just document areas and from that maybe we can predict how far it will extend itself next year and have a base to see where it is and isn't. If I was smart , I would do a colored in map of areas as you all report in.... just lacking the skills..... Jim

I had deer die in Marion and Fayette co IL.We lost 80% in Fayette and I lost 50% in Marion. I would guess we lost 50-75%+ of the wild deer in some areas as well and may have only lost 10-20% in other areas. I know it was bad enough here that several people did not see a deer during our 7 day gun season. Even though the state will tell you we had a record harvest and as many deer as we ever had , they just are not here.

Western Kentucky. I lost deer, a deer farmer 15 miles from me lost deer and a rescue 30 miles North of me lost deer. Also found deer in Wild dead.

Northeast Missouri. Lost 40% of our deer. Most all had EHD vaccination and booster shot June -July. We also had huge losses in the free ranging herd. Most of the hunters I know didn't fire a shot but Missouri Conservation reports a record harvest. Go figure.

South east Oklahoma lost 7 this year and 10 last year while spraying 10-12 times a night with spray system and most vaccinated. most in the same two pens with no water supply around for midges to breed in

Jim i did lose three bucks from ehd in October and saved one other one that had it. I will be fogging all next summer and fall something i didn't do this year.

Nate

I lost close to 25% in my breeding enclosure here in central SD, the day after I started fogging the pond behind my pens and my enclosure it completely stoppped. On my farm which is 20 miles away I found 6 dead bucks and last season I found around 40 dead deer. This year we had one of the best season so far as far as big mature bucks, I think mostly due to the mild winter last year. The southeastern part of the state had hundreds reported dead. This is one of our wild bucks that grossed 185 and was 26 inches wide beam to beam and an 11 inch brow tine. We think he may have survived EHD in the past because his nuts were shriveled up to nothing.

These are farms I know of

You can add Calhoun County Michigan - 1 Farm lost 90%

Branch County - 1 Farm lost 90%

Barry County - 1 farm lost 90% and one lost 25 deer

Eaton County - 1 Farm lost 130 deer

This total represents about 275 deer.

It was BAD here. There are many many more, these are the ones that I have first hand knowledge of. I for once in my life got lucky and lost none. I am in Kalamazoo County
