is there a demand for a true typical reproducer.i have a reason for asking this but want some feedback first.2 y.o.s 190" to 210" and 1 y.o.s 178'' to 190'' none with over 3% deductions,not out of typical does .look forward to hearing from you. brian

That is our goal is to consistently produce 200 " typical 2yo. Why? that is what we like and think is what most of the hunters like(right or wrong? don'tknow) Management wise I think you would find typicals would be easier to take care of. They can shed their velvet without having to strip it and don't have to be cut because they can hold up their heads. Not always do you get symmetry and balance with non-typicals necessitating they have to be cut. How can you sell a buck if you have to cut his antlers. Energizer is probably one of the few non-typicals that can shed and carry his rack. It is because he has symmetry, balance, and is not knarly.
Your 2yo goal is realistic but I doubt you will see many typical 1yo at 180 realistically 120-130. You see a lot of gun racks.LOL Maybe we will one day with better and better genetic selection you may see some true typical 1yo at 180.

Here is a 2yr old slick 7x6 typical. He was right at 180" with a 28" inside spread. He is 100% pure Texas. Not sure how much better a 2yr old pure TX buck can do without extras, it just takes them a little longer!
I did breed his womb sister to Lost Control and Texas Tea this year though!!

There is a huge market for the cleanest bucks with the least amount of points and the widest spread period. That is frame and it is all about shock value.
I grew a 148" true typical yearling this year and was proud to have him 5x5 19" inside and tall tines just about as good as a true typical yearling gets
Brian, if you can do that the demand will be very high! My hunters ask for cleaner bucks every year and I am going to start paying more for them and charging more for them. We have to give breeders initiative to raise them.

Kurt I'm proud to hear you say that. It been I goal of mine to get two different pay methods typical and non typical people want typical but want to pay non typical score prices and we can't grow typical and sell off that method. If ranches want typical then they need to pay more for true typical not just a typical look. If it fall under typical class 3% or less deduction then that deer should be worth a little more. Thanks for stepping up and help starting the second pay method.
Glad to hear from all of ya'll.The reason i ask I'm in Texas where we have ben behind on all of the inches.I have not tried to grow the typicals just can't get away from them now i don't know if i want to.i have the buck EDDIE RAY he has been 236'' to 265'' gross @ 2,3,4,&5, he has been 212'' to 220'' typical not what i consider a true typical.I was disappointed this year in his 2 y.o.s they just didn't have the inches ,they were overlooked by me and others because they were in the same pen with a lot bigger non typical deer.I sold one of his 2 y.o.s to Trophies Unlimited Wt's for a back up buck he grossed 210'' and netted around 204'' don't remember ,did not keep the score.Since 1 other 2 y.o. shed he grossed 189'' and netted 186'' had 1 inch non typical kicker on each side and measured less than 1'' side by side on a 5x5 mainframe.have had 1 yearling shed 5x6 mainframe he grossed 177'' netted 173 had a 4'' g-5 on one side.I have not read the cards till now . I have other 1 & 2 y.o.s that look like they are going to do the same thing out of does that are no part of typical.As soon as my wife this am diggs out pictures & pedigrees i will post them and let you be the judges thanks brian
