Sam.....awesome bucks, as always. Congrats!! I can't wait to see everyone's bucks as summer progresses. Slowly but surely/ day by day, its amazing how they grow yearly. This is my seventh summer watching antlers grow on my farm....still blows me away they grow giant racks, shed them, then start at Zero inches the next year and still end up bigger than the year before!

Took these today in a hurry with my phone so they aren't great but shows that Rambeaux is still doing good. I counted 22 points today. Everyone's bucks are looking great. Good luck to all!!

If you worry about EHD killing your deer read the Texas and Deer Breeder Gazette's. I have an article about using high dose Dexamethasone. It worked great for me. One shot and no antibiotics or any other follow-ups.

Charles,

That is very interesting stuff.....could save many.....many...deer...thanks for the post and the Article!!!!

PS......I agree that has to be the first nice buck I ever saw Sam James post on these forums!!!:eek:;)

Blue sky.......seriously there is no such thing as a silly question on these forums....or anywhere else for that matter.......I don't think you can view the gazette on the Internet.....but it is a very reasonable subscription and a good source of information......maybe someone can give you better information .....Donna Boy is the contact for the paper........not sure of her ni ber she has moved to Texas!!

Not to be a wet blanket or hijack this thread ...............But in some cases of EHD and the type............Atleast in my area MANY MANY deer died with in an hour or less of showing any signs!

Again sometimes with deer.................You do the VERY best you can and they still die!

A great option to still try if time allows

Best of Luck and EVERYONES bucks look GREAT!:)

I started raising whitetails in 1996, through the years we have lost a deer or two here and there to EHD. I hope what happened last year was like a 100 year flood,we lost half of our herd, like Wayne said, some of the animals were fine one minute and dead the next. Deer were coming up to the feeder and acting perfectly normal then falling over and going into thier death throws---it was unreal. Not all of them died this quickly, some lingered on for a few days. Hopefully we wont need it this year, but I will sure give it a try if it hits us again.

we r so new, we didnt subscribe to that texas gazette yet, could anyone scan me or somehow send me the article....and can anyone tell me who they would suggest for buying a fogger from..thanks amy

Yes Wayne you are correct....I had the same thing happen to me last year......I had no time to treat the animals if I wanted too.......they were up and going one minute and dead the next......crazy stuff the EHD is.....I hope we can find a vaccination someday for this awful virus...disease or whatever it is.....

Blue sky I'm new to deer farming but I purchased a fogger from Wayne green and it seems to work fine for me. Really helped with the bugs. Wayne has a post under health and wellness page

Looking good Mike!! Just curious....why does he have two farm tags? Or are one of those a Dept. of Ag Tag? I know in Pa we have to have to forms of I'd on each deer too......one being a farm tag and two a Dept. Of Ag tag.......but our tags do not resemble the farm tag so that's the only reason I was curious.......hope he keeps growin big for you!
