July growth update

Thanks for the comments dc! I really appreciate it! I was in the pen this morning with 3 friends and one of them said "My heart is racing just looking at him" (Timberjack). Then I realized mine was too! Whitetails are very special creatures! Thank God we get the opportunites (and the right) to raise them.



Here is another more typical buck we call Pepsi Geronimo. He is a buck we bought from Lynn and Chad Campbell. We really like him! He is one of those slow growers that I just started noticing this week! Last year at 3 he was 225. I think he'll end up a little bigger this year.

Well sam i'm doing my best to buy as many straws of Timberjack that i can afford....I believe he will be one of the top reproducers out there....i am loving the yearlings I see he has on the ground. Honestly i have not really seen any of his offspring to date that are just average.......his offspring always seem to have a jump on the others......just mu opinion.....I will have a pen full of his offsprig soon!!

Thanks Dennis! We are very lucky to have Timberjack. He has stepped up our program to a level I never imagined was possible. Its just simply genetics! We have over 100 antlered bucks and Timberjack and his offspring just put out much more antler!



I guess when you breed one of the 2 largest bucks in the world to the womb sister of the other largest buck in the world, you just might have something good! My hat is off to Dan Kuhns for creating this great animal.



As far as look, I have hunters that like typicals and I have hunters that like non-typicals. I have hunters that like drops and I have hunters that like tall, wide, massive 8 pointers. I even have a few hunters that like a big 6 pointer. But most hunters love the stickers and flyers. And I still charge (and I don't know of any preserve that doesn't) by the inch. So Timberjack outcrossed with great typical framed deer like Maxbo and Martygraw seem to be working out really well. We are now trying him crossed with Hydrox Ax and Maxbo 727 (The next generation). But we plan on keeping BamBam and DoubleDown in the mix just for fun! We'll see how that turns out!

We went to get some pictures of Gold Digger 2 days ago and oh my, im speachless. This deer is getting really nice this year!! He has an unbelievable look to him! He looks like he is going to score pretty high this year also. Here is the little video I got of him after I finally put the binoculars down.

Rold Gold has really packed the inches on the past few weeks!! He is getting huge this year. He is a 400" candidate for sure this year!!! He is showing some of his Daddys characteristics . Also check out his sons. We have lots of nice yearlings and 2 yr olds out of him this year along with Gold Digger 300"+@3.

Here is Green 5 (Boots) @3. After Crushing his back right leg he bounced back! He was down to a slim 100 pounds in January/February and thought we were going to lose him. Surprisingly as of right now he appears to be growing a 300"+ rack. Another Big Loner product

Here is a yearling, Timberjack on top, bottom side a Cyclone Doe, born May 15th. I have not named him yet may wait until next year and see what he does. He is not a giant but I think he will do ok.............

Anyone have or post a picture of Moses from 2009?

I don't have a picture of him, but I saw him in person a couple weeks ago and he is BIG!!!!! I mean very impressive, much bigger than he was last year. Big long beams, long tines, wide, mass, he has it all. If you go to Whitetail Exchange you can see a 2009 pic of him.

I have also seen the 2009 picture of him on Whitetail Exchange and have heard that it doesn't do him justice. I have talked to a couple of breeders that used Moses and they both said the fawns out of Moses are the largest fawns they had that particular year. I unfortunately am one of those breeders that had the opportunity to breed with Moses and didn't and missed the boat. It had more to do with the increase of feed prices at the time than the desire to use him as a breeder. Also I had no shooters that year and the following year. I almost changed the name of my farm 3 years previous to that to Two-holer deer farm.

It was -19* this morning and in the -35* range a hundred miles or so from here this morning. We won't hit zero today and I can't wait till February when the days are longer. Come February the ice will get so thick on the lakes that the fish encounter a low oxygen level and become very inactive. You must catch them now in this weather before this happens. You have to be a diehard to thrive in this weather up here.
