First Fawns of 2014

They are so small didnot give any shots as of yet if anyone has bottle fed feel free to let me no what my next move should be                                                                still trying to learn this forum is where i get info  thanks to everyone

My phone line is open too, if you have any questions. I am no expert, but I've bottlefed my fair share of fawns. 814-329-1449

Your fawns will all five likely live now. I doubt they would have all made it on her. They just can't count quite to five. They seems to miss keeping at least a couple of their bottoms cleaned or remember to lick all of them warm after a storm. If one or two grow into monsters you may someday look back and know that her death forcing you to bottle feed was a blessing in disguise! Sorry for the the loss. You may have gained something greater that you would have lost.

Sorry for your loss. Losing any of them sucks! Unfortunately it's one of the realities of raising any animals. Someone once told us that if you have livestock, at some point you will have deadstock. It goes with the territory.

On the topic of the thread, we had our first fawn born yesterday. Sun Dragon/W0064/Max. We are pretty excited!

Todd, buck or doe fawn? I like that combo, looks like a winner either way, buck or doe. Congrats.

Steve or Jerry,

I took my runts that stood zero chance of living on their mothers to Jerri Lee. She bottle fed four of them and they all lived. They were very very small at birth. I don't know if she took a picture of them or not. One could lay down comfortably in one of your hands. They are all alive today. She will definitely give you the best advice out there.

Good luck.

It was a doe fawn. Yes, we really like that combination as well. We were hoping for at least one buck fawn, but still happy with a healthy doe fawn!! He mother will be for sale soon!

BIGRUN, wow you don't hear of five very often .Did you weigh each one and how old were they when mom passed. Sorry for your loss but that is what happens raising deer sooner or later. This is how we all learn about the up,s and downs of deer farming.

Had our second two fawns born this morning, a buck and a doe.

Heres a pic of the first two, now 4 days old, with our grand daughter.

So far all four fawns are out of "Pork Chop", he was named by our grand daughter.

I was talking with her about naming these guys, Ham and Bacon.  LOL

Wow, the fawns sure are coming. Mine will start soon. I am usually a couple weeks behind, mine are all live bred and the majority won't start until the 20th or so. I have a doe I think is in early stages of labor now, but it's hard to tell cause she's 11 years old and doesn't show much pacing and panting anymore, lol. She is walking around with her tail straight out, has been all day, that's usually a sign labor is starting. Good luck to all. I wish everyone well, I love the fawn threads every year. It nice to see what crosses are coming together for everyone.

Big Run

You've got a fast growing herd! Congratulations! What or how much pmsg did you give or were these by pasture breed? I fortunately have just made it back from Pigeon Forge, TN. My wife and I spent the weekend there for our anniversary. I was worried there would be a mess of fawns when I got home this evening. Still just big fat bellies here!
