Well not only are stray dogs an even a irresponsible dog owner's dog being eradicated we whack Coyotes too!!! It's all part of our recovery an rebuilding process! May God bless my steady hands an straight shooting 22-250. This lil guy was on a dead run at 220 yards from me when he dropped out of my scope. I thought I missed til I walked out an found him pulled my range finder out an he was 220 yards from the tree I was leaning against!!!18238:a18238:a.

Good shooting!!! Nothing gets a "free pass" around my place. It's our responsibility to protect our cervids in any manner possible. We all know, no one else will...

Gotta love the way a 22-250 shoots!!  Great shot also! Congrats!!!!

This is a doe I watched get taken down by 2 coyotes out in a big slough of mine midday last Sunday. The water was only about 10 inches deep and that's all it took for em. Of course I didn't have a gun with me but I called my dad and he came down and got some long shots off at em but missed. Unfortunately the doe died from having its whole rear end eaten out while she was alive and trying to get away. They also tore her flank open and she had 2 big buck fawns still kicking inside of her when I got out to the deer. I never want to see something like this ever again. Last winter we saw 16 yotes in one morning while trying to call em, 9 in one bunch. I have a herd of 800-1,000 deer that winter on my farm and the coyotes live right in the middle of the herd using the deer for food and the safety of all the eyes. The last 6-8 years they have had mange really bad and it has kept the numbers at bay but now they are healthy and are out of control to the point of the fawn recruitment going backwards. Out of control coyote numbers mixed with EHD and the unlimited doe tags is going to be the demise of the deer population.

Grateful we live too far north for EHD, at least so far.  We trap coyotes continually on our breeding and hunting ranch.  Last year we got around 40, and that barely made a dent.  Trapping them takes some skill and if you can find someone that knows something about it, maybe they will help you get going.  All the guys carry rifles in their trucks just in case.
