I'm having a heck of a time. I lost two deer last week to ehd. One took about 32 hours. She was foaming at which turned pink/bloody. All her hair stood on end like she was trying to regulate body temp. The second was prefect at 4, I was head butting her playing around, but then she didn't get up for treats at around 8. She seemed puffy in the face. The next day she died pushed into corner post. Her gums and tongue where dark red. And eyes and eye lids real bloody. I think she went blind. Which brings me to last night. A doe has a big deep hole in her side. It's about 4 inches long and deep. No blood no fluids but did look like it's into the body cavity. I put her in the shute, first time I used it, 4 cc of penicillin around wound iodine in wound and stitched it up. Sprayed it with a vetercin blue hydro gel... what else should I do????

I had a doe do that from a dart once, not as deep as yours but everybit or bigger round once another doe kicked it more open. I know thats not what happened here. You did what you could do and it looks good. Watch for sickness or weakness as it could be infection. Only thing we do on any wound anymore is SWAT. That stuff is great it prevents flies and helpa heal wounds and is cheap.
i'd keep some kind of antibiotic in her every few days...pen....LA...draxxin...anything...something
