Rhonda a lot of this single sided bashing from these liberal journalist, scare mongers and qdmrs will be coming to a halt starting very shortly. I will update  you.

Looking forward to it! I've got all my paperwork ready to go! I will get the truth out...just have to do the time. They can't argue with facts. We offered to remove the animals from the landscape two years ago with no taxpayer money, they refused us that opportunity.

Definition for indemnity Merriam Webster: "a promise to pay for cost of possible damage, loss, or injury. Killing people's animals, putting them out of business, or quarantining their land without indemnity or compensation is a "takings" and against the constitution. No different than any other livestock disease program. It was IDALS "gracious" decision to release the amount we received from the USDA in the paper, radio stations, and television news stations.....so happy they took the high road in their release.

Takings: "Often when the government regulates the use of a person's property, the effect on the particular person is adverse." I will tell you, the "adverse effects" or "losses and expenses" for our finding of one CWD test has far surpassed the $917,000 we received from the USDA. Again, we are still very thankful for the USDA and the important research they allowed to take place on our farm.

One might think after 50 years of studying this disease, we would have a live animal test for early detection or a vaccine or a better understanding as to how it spreads or what causes the protein to misfold. Hopefully the research obtained from our herd will help for early detection not only for CWD but other human diseases such as CJD, Alzheimer's and Parkinson's. I tried to get research on our 230 animals at the lodge, as did a couple of researchers....we were all denied that opportunity by the state.

Really trying to make some lemonade out all the lemons we've been served.

Rhonda,

We must all look at the big picture.

People with enough smarts will see how this was likely a once in a lifetime opportunity for the researchers and may one day lead to  better things for people with CJD, alzheimers and parkinsons.

It does not reduce the pain you endured and pain for the people that know you and what you went through.

You are wonderful people and nobody deserves what you had to go through.

There are always people that are going to hate but they cannot see the forest for the trees.  I guess that's what makes this world go round.

I wished pa would take poaching as serious as Iowa. Slap on the wrist here

still chokes me up Rhonda

you really had some AWESOME looking animals and should be proud of what you accomplished genetically. Keeping that frame with the extras and width is hard for people to do.

where does it stand with your preserve?  I assume the land is quarantined there also.

They are attempting to quarantine it for five years for less than 1% infection rate, same or less than is expected in the wild population. Judge ruled it "wholly irrational" and "DNR does not have jurisdiction." On to district court. In the meantime, we are left making land payments and property tax on 350 acres. Lets not forget, we have to keep heat and AC to the new and old lodge.

How about the family in TX with Ebola. They themselves have been quarantined and their apartment and removed from the premise. Leaving their personal belongings behind.

Who will continue to pay the rent on their apartment? Who will buy them clothes to wear and replace their personal belongings or replace the food from their cupboards? And who is paying for the private home for which they have been moved?

People think this is a joke, ebola is a deadly virus to humans, CWD is not. Last I checked, they were allowing people to fly internationally into our country from areas where they had reported ebola outbreaks.

We get CWD and we were not allowed to move our animals 160 miles as the crow flies to save tax payer dollars AND remove the animals from the landscape the first year then blame us for the infection rate found in our herd after a 2 year quarantine creating nothing short of an incubator for CWD.

People better wake up.

Regarding the poaching of the deer .I would like to know what formula the state came up to determine that $20,000 was what the deer was worth??

Next we have open borders that allow these people that have been infected with a deadly disease(Ebola) that knows no borders and its seems to be ok to keep the borders open and allow these people in country, but yet state officials can move deer in state and also across borders to other states and ignore USDA guidelines re transport of deer and elk???  Just amazing...

This is an answer we will be sure to ask just at the right time.  I have files and files of information right at my fingertips.  Gotta remember I have been living, breathing, eating and drinking CWD for two full years.  It appears I have a rather large appetite.

Its now time we let you rest and give this mouthful of cwd to the blame game folks and officials. They need to learn to swallow a big bite of truth.
