Late Antler Growth This Year

I took some pictures of my bucks yesterday and then compared them to the same time period last year.  I found that my deer appear to be maybe 10 days to two weeks behind schedule from last year.  Has anyone else noticed this?  It was an extremely cold winter here in NW PA and I'm thinking that may be the cause.  I can tell my breeder, Lake Effect, will be much larger in mass, points, and overall frame but he is just behind where he was last year.  For example, last year he had started his G4's but this year he hasn't gotten past the G2's yet.  At first I thought  because he was getting so much bigger, it would take more time but after looking at all of the bucks, I think they are all behind.  He's not behind many of the bucks posted on the forum so far so I'm thinking what I found may be more widespread.  Any thoughts?

Well, although a late starter, Lake Effect is growing well now.  He still has about two weeks to go but It will just be added tine length at this point.  Lake Effect is 3 this year.  He is MRW Big Heavy over my MRW Rigid Doe (we call her Brigid and she's an awesome girl).  She is Rigid on a Blazer doe.  He really has a great look and added a significant amount of bone from last year.  His brows and G2's are crazy.  They are probably 15 or more inches.  I live bred with him this year and have 2 buck fawns from him currently as well as 3 doe fawns. 


 


If you have an interest in semen, please let me know.  I'm thinking about having him drawn primary for my use but I would sell some for $500 for multiple straws and probably $750 for singles.  I'm not really sure yet but let me know if you have interest in semen.  I will be marketing Lake Effect this year on the front cover of the PDFA auction catalog as well as  full page in the NADFA magazine so he will get some national coverage.


 


His 3 doe fawns are $300 and his full womb brother is for sale for $3000.

Matt, his brother is about the same as last year but with a little more mass. He is a clean typical and around 180". He will be for sale as a stocker this year. I'll probably post him tonight.
