I’m pretty new to deer farming and need some advise from any seasoned farmers out there. I found a 3 week old fawn on Thursday night who was laying on his side, very lethargic and could not stand. I assumed he was dehydrated so we took him in the house and have been giving him shots of vit B and saline. It was also recommended to get as much “bounce back” in him by mouth as I could. He seems a bit better on Saturday but still can’t stand on his own. At least he can hold his head up for a while now, he couldn’t on Thursday. I have to squirt the liquid into his mouth but when I do that at least he swallows. He won’t suck from the bottle. I’ve only got him to take about 6 oz today. I feel like I should be doing something more but don’t know what. Anyone who has seen this before please give me your thoughts.
Maybe give him 1/2 cc of bo-se. I have also used unflavored pedialite given orally.

Thursday night when we found him, he was breathing very heavily. The labored breathing has settled down and he is pooping normally. My wife said he was standing this morning for a few minutes, very short lived though.
I've had issuses like this before. Bo-se like greening said. C&D antitoxin iv fluids and tube feeding has worked for me. Sounds like you may have it headed in the right direction. Good luck

Have you taken the fawns temp yet? His temp should be 100.5 in that area. I would give 3cc SQ of C&D Antitoxin, along with 1.5cc IM of Vitamin B12. I would probably give .25 cc of Draxin as a precautionary measure. If he has an elevated temp that means infection and I would up the does of Draxin to .5cc. The Bo-se is not a bad idea. This drug is for selenium deficiency. Eastern states lack selenium, so it is possable you may have this issue. Give him 6-10 hours to reevaluate. Make sure you keep pumping fluids into the little guy. Once a fawn gets to severe dehydration there is no bringing them back. Their liver starts to shut down and crystallizes.
Thanks to all who responded. I have taken action as you guys suggested and the fawn seems to be getting back to normal. Not 100% yet but going in the right direction. I'm pretty happy that we saved him. It looked dire Thursday night.
