More than likely the wound came from one of the doe's. Sometimes they'll stomp on them if somethings wrong. I had this happen with a newborn too.....went in, it was lethargic and had been kicked. If she couldn't get on her feet to nurse within the first few hours or couldn't suckle properly, mom probably thought it wasn't a viable birth.....sucks, I know.
