I have a friend who had a small yearling buck get into his doe pen and he thinks he saw it breed his best doe which he had drastically different plans for as far as breeding.  Is there a way to abort this pregnancy if in fact she did get bred? Lutalyse?

Thanks.

Keep it, it may be a miracle baby, Lol. Sometimes the best deer are made by accidents such as these.

Sorry, I don't have a real answer to give you, just saying, if all falls through and she is pregnant, she may still have a good fawn.

My advice to your friend would be for him to contact his Vet if his doe truly did get bred there r chems, that can be used but only after a certain amount of days I believe 10 to 15 days after suspected breeding ! No matter what he uses she won't be ready again until December, good luck MKwitowski

I say roll with it, clearly other plans were in the works! If you abort the pregnancy you will alter the does natural heat cycle, this could have implications for her down the road. You can always check for pregnancy with a blood test, if she isn't pregnant go ahead and breed her as planned. Maybe he got lucky and she will breed as planned, you never know.

1cc of Celosil or any other type of prostaglandin can be administered intramuscularly.  You can also use the cattle source and give about half the dose recommended for cattle.
