AI Timing

How many hours do you wait after pulling cidr's to AI? I have used 56 hours but here all kind of numbers. It would also be nice to see what the conception rate is for the different time spans.

I have always instructed the people I AI for to pull CIDR's 58-60hrs prior to our set time. I hit right around 55% on yearlings and right around 70-75% on 2yr old plus does(there are a couple places I breed for that do not keep good records). I only do trans-cervical AI however, I know the time that people aim for with lap AI is usually a bit earlier, more in the 55-57hr range. In fact, there is a guy I do trans-cervical for in NE Alabama every year, last year I think he did 14 does lap at 55hrs and all but 4 of them took. We attributed this to poor semen quality as they were all AI'd to the same buck. That is quite good in my opinion as 6 of the 10 that took to the lap AI were yearlings. What time are you set to do your AI? Keep us posted!

Sincerely,

I was shooting for 57 57 1/2 this year. This year every doe looked to be in strong heat at 57-57 1/2 hours. I have done them as early as 56 hours and as late as 60 and to be honest I cant say I have had any better or worse results at any certin time.
