It has become VERY clear that Nadefa is not going to come to it's members for input on the cwd standards! That being said, the time is NOW for it's members to give input to them!! I STRONGLY urge everyone who has a stake in the cervid industry and IS a member of Nadefa to send a short email to all board and executive directors stating your stance and concerns on the direction they are taking. Whether for or against the standards, YOUR voice needs to be heard!! There is no time left to sit on the fence and assume that everyone is making the right decisions for YOU!! Nadefa is having a board meeting tomorrow evening, so if you could send before then it could be beneficial. I have posted all emails below. PLEASE! take the time to make your voice heard, whether for or against. Please post if comments are sent Thanks!

Thanks Kurt and Jerrilee! I find it hard to believe you are the only nadefa members on the forums. Everyone else needs to have there voice heard. Whether for or against you need to be heard. I found it very interesting that one of the board members that replied to me said this was the FIRST email he has recieved about concerns with the standards! Really? Shame on myself and everyone else for not sending it sooner. They need and want your input. Please send your emails! It doesn't need to be long. Just a short email to the point.

MWBHRA Board issues position on CWD Standards to NADeFA.

To the members of the NADeFA board of directors and officers,

The Missouri Whitetail Breeders & Hunting Ranch Association would like to express our concern for the Federal Standards Version 22. At our annual conference Shawn spoke to our membership and said NADeFA supports the current standards. In the past few weeks we have received calls and emails from our membership voicing their concern. The Missouri Whitetail Breeders & Hunting Ranch Association finds these standards unacceptable. Version 22 still has over a dozen concerns that have been pointed out by our membership. The standards are in excess of the federal rule's intent and will threaten our businesses. At this time Missouri has enough problems within the state and we cannot accept an over-reaching federal document. We hope NADeFA will reconsider its position on these standards, work with the USDA to fix the necessary changes, or will stop the document from being implemented. If the NADeFA board continues to support this document it is evident NADeFA no longer identifies with the issues and interest of the Missouri Whitetail Breeder and Hunting Ranch Association. Our association represents our members and will do everything we can do to protect our farms, families, and cervid culture.

Thank you,

MWBHRA board of directors

I am proud to say I am a member of the MWBHRA........thats how we roll

I would like to thank those of you who are finally taking an interest in the Program Standards and trying to get everyone else to fight for our industry as well. We need more people to get involved. We have major battles going on in Florida and New York to close their borders and in Louisiana to re-open their border. All of these states are using CWD and their lack of faith in the state CWD programs as their hammer to stop the importation of our animals.

I would like to point out that the Program Standards have not come out for public comment yet, and when they do, NADeFA will send out notice to all of its members as well as post links here on DeerFarmer.com, just like we have always done in the past. This will give everyone an opportunity to read the Program Standards for themselves and see how they compare to the CWD regulations they have been operating under in the past. For those that don't have the time or interest to read through the regulations, we will follow up with bullet points that we believe should be addressed and how to comment. This has been common practice in the past and will be done again this time.

If you do have issues or concerns with the Standards or questions on anything else you may be hearing, I would strongly encourage you to contact the NADeFA Board of Directors or myself. I would caution you that not everything you see on the internet is accurate (unless you're looking for a French model).

Thank you MWBHRA for taking a stance and putting it to the members and the public. That is what an associations job is, to protect the interest of its MEMBERS!!!! I would like to know what IDEFAs stance is on this program standards. When I was on the board I sent the document to all our board with no response and I could not get any interest in discussion on the issue during board meetings. I am no longer a member due to the fact that I feel the association does not act on the best interest of the everyday Indiana deer farmer. I can spend my money elsewhere. I will really have to think long and hard before I rejoin NADEFA. I feel that the members shouldnt have to have an uprising for the assoc to know how members feel. JMHO

Hello everyone, im fairly new to the industry. I am not a member of Nadefa having said that, is it possible to vote the existing leaders out and vote leaders into office that have our best interest at heart and not their own personal agendas

You are exactly correct Jerrilee! Members should not have make moves like this. I believe Mn and many other states are gonna be right behind MO. Time to make a stand.

This is very good to see....Mo.....keep up the good work.....someone had to step in and voice their concerns.....Mr Shaffer that was a very weak response.........TELL US WHY NADEFA SUPPORTS THESE STANDARDS........We as members deserve to know!!

I serve on the board of directors for MWBHRA and want everyone to know that you don't have to be from Missouri to be one of our memebers. As i member you will have an association that will act to make sure your voice is heard. We have an amazing board here in Missouri and will work to preserve the rights of our cervid breeders. Our association represents our members and will do everything we can do to protect our farms, families, and cervid culture. If you are a member of your state association urge them to stand and fight for their membership!

Daren in "My Opinion" an association that works as a democracy what you have suggested would be possible. But NADEFA does not work that way as we just saw that in the past election. The Canidates are selected by the Existing board members as to not upset the apple cart as they say. The "Conflict of Interest" excuse came in play then. Sorta like the NFL "Tuck Rule" I think we "ALL" want to belong to an association that is more concerned about fighting for it's members than worrying about Public Image and Personal Agendas. "In My Opinion" NADEFA seems to have forgotten...Who....How...Why...They were even Created. No Shawn it is not that we are finally getting involved it's time that You and the board members started listening to us and doing what is in "OUR" best interest. When you don't listen you can't hear. There are some good board members in place but not enough to bring change to the "Good Ol' Boys" And as long as we cannot nominate and vote for the people We Want to Lead Us......How Will It Ever Change?? There are some who blame the ACA for attempting to divide us and that is the furthest thing from the truth. It was NADEFA that created the ACA from it's own neglect and questionable agenda. Eveyone please note that these remarks are of "My Opinion" So I don't need phone calls! These are my beliefs today and they will be tomorrow. But I would like close by asking you Daren....Why do you not belong to NADEFA? Do you belong to your state association? And what are you doing to help the other deer farmers? Please don't wait until it is your state or your farm that is in Peril!
