I searched it up on here and Aureomycin comes up a lot but never gives a conclusive recommendation on dosage. Reference is made to dosage on the package but that is all over the map with no reference to deer. In the 4G medicated crumbles I am thinking 5lbs will mix into 800 lbs of pelletized feed. I am planning on feeding 3-4 consecutive days each month from now through summer to try and improve health and achieve bigger fawns. Is that enough? Looking for help!

I work in the feed industry and the MAX that a feed rep can give is 1 mg of ctc per 100 pounds of body weight per day

I think your are UNDER FEEDING ctc!

It can be added for feed efficiency and weight gain. I would not recommended adding it for treatment of any illness. I suspect it may also disrupt the life cycle of midge gnats in the same manner as horned flies.

In volume , a half cup to 25 lbs of feed? A cup to 25lbs? Looking more to use as weight gain promotion an as a preventative much as the Kerr studies in Texas.

I feed 3+ lbs per 5 gal bucket at certain times of the year.

Antler Drop

BIG Weather changes

Right before Fawns hit the ground

At Weaning

Velvet shed

EHD Season

Right around Breeding Season

I have done this for 12 + years and it works very well for me. I also give very few shots anymore.

Best of Luck

Wayne,

Are you using the 4G medicated crumbles ?

Kevin, I was wondering the same thing, I could never find a dosage for deer..

When top dressing or mixing in a textured feed, I would recommend using the lowest g crumble. It is difficult to get proper dispersion. 100g works well if used in the pelleting process and is usually the more economical route. Feed mills will calculate the correct dose to add in a feed pellet recipe. I also don't know how to figure the exact dose for deer. Try and duplicate the number mentioned in the Kerr feed recipe. It is difficult to properly dose Aureomycin for feed efficiency and preventive maintenance in a top dress. Even dispersion is tricky.

Hey guys, is the Aureomycin safe for pregnant does?  Is it safe for the fawns that are born too?  Thanks

I have used it on them all.

I believe when I used it last it was dosed at 0.1lbs per 100lbs. At least this was the vets recommendation.

We top dress the feed the same week every month to prevent illness in the herd. We are also going to top dress granulated garlic this spring and summer to help fight flys. Heard good results from the garlic.
