Was wondering what everyone thought their fawns would average. Whats too small to survive on the mother? Whats too small to survive on the bottle? Whats the biggest fawn a doe can have?? Thanks Wade

We had a 10 pound 13 oz fawn (single) last year. We've also had a 10 pound 7 oz fawn out of a yearling doe 2 years ago.....he is huge bodied still. He is throwing 9 lb fawns right now. Our whole herd average is probably 7 1/2 - 8 lbs.

Our biggest bodied breeder bucks probably average around 8 1/2 lbs.

Have bottle fed several 3 lb'ers. Have never left one on the doe that little. Have left 5 1/2 lb fawns on the doe though.

I have a question on a small fawn. I had a yearling doe give birth about 20 day's early. The fawn may have been 4 lb. I watched the fawn for a few hour's and it never would feed, dont even think the doe had milk so I put it on the bottle. It is as healthy as can be and eat's good. It is over two week's old now and is still small may be 8 lb. Will this fawn ever grow into a normal sized adult. Never had one this small before.

From my experience...the little ones will be smaller but will eventually catch up. My 3 1/2 lb doe fawn from last year seems to be the exception though as she is the same size as everyone else right now.

My fawn is now 17 day's old and is an easy keeper and eat's well. I had to take a 24 hour old fawn today and start it on the bottle. The day old is as big if not a bit larger.
