Backing up does

I am new to the whitetail industry and have a question regarding backing up my 5 adult does.

The five does are in a pen with 8 buck fawns and a yearling buck (to be backed up by).

My question is will the buck fawns be able to breed the adult does. We have limited pen space so this is my dilemma. I am thinking the yearling will catch all the does that don't take to AI and wont let the buck fawns breed if they even can?? any suggestions greatly appreciated.

With that many buck fawns there is no way the yearling will be able to keep track of all the does.If those little buggers are mature enough to breed you can bet they will. You better take the yearlings head gear off or someone will get killed. Also if you have that many boys in there you will never know who did the breeding without dna!!!!!!

Are you going to keep the bucks away from the doe's after you do the A.I. If you dont he will breed them the same day that you do the A.I. you have to keep them apart for at least a couple weeks.

The does will be taken into a super small pen the day of the AI but they can not be bred in that pen (too small). I have 3 pens total. pen1 has 5 adult does with 8 buck fawns(biggest pen) pen2 has 10 doe fawns (bottlefed) and pen3 has 5 adult does with 3yr old breeder. I don't want the buck fawns to be able to breed the does, I have a yearling maxbo extreme son that I want them backed up to. I am pulling my hair out trying to figure this out!! ps the pen that the 5 adult (AI) does are going into after the AI was the pen I had bottlefed doe fawns in, its big enough for about 4-5 calm deer for a short period of time.

You will need to wait 18-27 days after your ai date then put the back up back in with them. If you don't then he will cover them and you wasted your semen and money. Good luck
