Can you fill a dart with 1/2cc of BAM and 1/2cc of sterile water?  Thanks for the help

I personally would not. They recommend a specific dose for a reason.

I don't change my dosage. I just top off the dart, so there isn't any air space. I do this if I need to dart a fawn with 1/2 cc, but only have to 1cc darts on hand.

What Zane said^^^^^^

it's way better to top off a 1/2cc load in a 1cc dart than to shoot it without.....and sterile water sure isn't going to hurt anything.

...and I usually don't go by the recommended doses either.....

I darted over 120 deer last fall with BAM.  They were all 3+ year old bucks.  I started off using 2 full cc of BAM.  Part way through went to 1.5cc and they went out just as well.  By the end i was using 1.25cc and they still all went out like a light.  I bet I could have went to 1cc and it still would have worked.  I prefer to shoot 2cc darts so that is all I shot.  Topped them all off with sterile water.

Yes, you can use sterile water to top off Darts when loading with BAM.

In fact, we (at Wildlife Pharmaceuticals) have found that you can effectively use any of the solutions listed below, as long as they accurately meet the descriptions.

1- Sterile water is water that has no microorganisms living within it. Sterile water, though sometimes distilled, is not the same thing as distilled water. As some microorganisms can survive at high temperatures, simply boiling water may not be enough to sterilize it.

2- Physiological saline is a 0.85% Sodium Chloride solution made in water.

3- Lactated Ringer's Solution is composed of sodium chloride, sodium lactate, potassium chloride, and calcium chloride. It is normally used for electrolyte and fluid replenishment and can help rehydrate animals and restore electrolyte balance.
