BAM ?

We have used it on about 30 bucks and does and it is great. We have a very excitable doe that doesn't go down wel that we hit with .5 cc bam II and she went down within 5 minutes. She is a fence runner and wouldn't be on the farm if she wasn't out of Rolex and produce. It is absolutely amazing how fast they go down and how alert they are after reversal. I will probably not ever use telezole ever again.

Do you have to mix the BAM or does it come ready to use? and what is the shelf life of BAM? Anybody have a link to the pharmacy that makes it?

my Vet said $225 for a kit. My neighbor says he's been putting bucks down with 7/10ths of a cc with great results. He's been raising deer for 25+ yrs and is impressed.

just bought kits last week for our LAP AI and they were 255 and add the shipping

they must have recently went up 30

we used 1.5 cc on all the does.  I think 1cc for LAP would not have been enough.   Only had to give a couple that were wound up another half because they weren't down in 10 min.

We have been using it a bunch over the last year here at AC. It has a shelf life of a year. BAM II comes premixed and is very very useful, bucks that would take telazol/xylazine like nothing go down and out on 2cc bam in minutes. Most does can be given 1cc, some even just a half. Depends on the animal really. With BAM II they no longer require the tolazine as a reversal, just Atipamizole and Naltrexone. Something I have learned is to give 1cc more A than Bam.

I have seen BAM used but I personally dont use it. The only things i dont like is that they can still move (kick their feet), and the two/ three reversal shots depending on what youre using. Ive been in too many situations in trailers and boxes where the instant I stick the reverser in me and the deer are looking eye to eye haha. They do go down and back up pretty easy though. But what works on my farm doesnt work on everyones.

If you're hearing what I'm hearing...it's on back order and they don't know when they'll get it back in.  I've been waiting over a week.  They told me BAM II is all they make now.  $255/kit plus shipping which is $16 by ground for me in MN.

Ryan,

Precision Pharmacy makes a ketamine/medetomidine combo.  I have not used it but I have heard that people like it and Dr Ables says you better get out of the way when you give the reversal. Hope this helps.

How many cc's do you get total with the BAM ll and do you have to refrigerate it after you open it?

I haven't used it as of yet. Really didn't want to try something new without getting all dialed in on it first.

That said the telazol/xylazine mix I have used for many years just isn't cutting it anymore. Bucks seem to be overcoming the drug too easily. And this was not during the rut. Now we do suspect there was an issue with the xylazine this year and that may have caused the majority of the issues. But I helped a friend out this year darting bucks and it was a really bad deal.

Now I did ship a deer this year that the buyer used Bam on. I was very impressed at how things went. Put down was quick and easy. Reversal was impressive as well. Amazing how fast the head was back up and wide awake the deer became in a short time.

Next year I will be using it at my farm.

Dave, there are 11 CC's of  the sedative portion and two vials of reverser.  You do not have to refrigerate it.  You will run out of the sedative before the reverser.  The amount of deer you can sedate varies by how much you give them.  During Lap AI, I gave my does 1cc and it worked well.  My one doe does well with only .5cc.  I figure go light and you can always add a little more if necessary.

Thanks John!

I was worried that if I only had to dart one deer I would waste the rest of the sedative if it sat around a while but it sounds like I can use it as I need it and it won't go bad right away.

Love the bam 2 but had a guy pick up a shooter he missed his mark with the dart and got him in the gut it didn't turn out well , he never came back out of it but dr joe is using the ketamine combo and has eveything good to say about it

We used the ketamine combo when Dr. Joe did our AI... and it did work so good . I could not say anything bad about it.
