I started using a self made version of BAM ten years ago, have used Zoopharms BAM since it was available. I have also used a Medetomidine/Ketamine combo, works good. I have never had any problems of any nature when using BAM . Deer are down in under ten minutes, standing in four-five after reversal. They do not just jump up too quickly.
I darted a buck with a wad of barbed wire in his antlers several years ago, didn't realize/remember I was out of reversal(stupid). Deer was out snoring for four hours till I got some reversal from a local small animal Vet. I gave the reversal and the buck stood up in four minutes and walked off, recovered fine.
I've used various versions of the BAM for nine years when operating on one particular buck. He's now a 200# deer, gets 10mg of Medetomidine(1cc of BAM), out for an hour of surgery to abdomen. Depending on length of surgery I may add some(.2) more BAM. I've done this every 3-4 months on THIS deer for nine years. Never had any problems.
I have darted the same deer three times in four days with Medetomidine(pre BAM) without any problems. Try that with Rompum and you will have a dead deer.
