Now that Maxbo is gone, I was wondering which one of his sons will take his place? Which one is the best producer

Wow! What a question, This will be a very interesting thread to see what all the opinions will be. (Hardcore, Shadow, Maxbo XL, Maxbo Ranger, It's almost endless)

It depends on what your looking to produce? Shadow is producing great but lots of stickers and extra"s, I think by seeing david Lapps scorpion yearling and Jeff houstons hardcore yearling this summer in person not to mention the pics of all hardcore yearlings on the forums that he is producing that cleaner big typical look were all looking for! And lots not forget ranger is a big time producer of many big bucks! Just my thoughts

Scott I can't disagree with the stickers vs cleaner stuff we have seen so far. That said yearlings rarely show what a buck will look like once they are older. Also we have to remember that the doe has a great deal to do with the influence of the rack styles as well.

One thing is for sure Maxbo produced a ton of great sons. I had one here myself until we sold him. The little he was used he is showing he can put it on the ground as well.

Maxbo's influence will live on in the industry for a long, long time.

I would be curious to know just how many fawns were born from him over the years. He was always very popular and his use was consistent over the years.

Drew, he died about a month ago. 10 years in the Oklahoma weather. That is some kinda record in itself. He is and will be one of the greatest producing sires ever. Just glad to have many offspring of him. It will make the visits to Cougar Ridge alot different for me. Hardcore, Danger, Mastbo and all the rest of the buck are great, but I always had to look back at Maxbo. He was the star of the show.

DNA Solutions currently has 1,027 Maxbo offspring in their registry.

There are many great bucks out there from a legendary sire. I have particular interest in one of those bucks because we will be breeding with him this year.

That buck is Maxbo Extra a very impressive 2 year old from Valley View Whitetails Jacob Glick Jr.'s farm. I had an awesome visit to Jacob Glicks place a while back. If anyone has the time and is in the location of Quarryville, Pa you should give Jacob a call and stop by.

Lets not forget Maxbo Ranger. His performance may be unmatched when you look at the number of breedings versus the number of 200"+ offspring. Levi Weavers buck pens are amazing!! His sons include...Dream Ranger, OJ Ranger, Midnite Ranger, Bucky Ranger, Peacock Ranger, Harry Ranger, MC Ranger, PJ Ranger, OK Ranger, Lucky Ranger, Willy Ranger, Ranger Select and I am sure Im forgetting some!! Sudden Explosion is getting a bunch of Ranger stuff to breed this season!!

Timberghost is another great son and is past the 8 year old mark and to my knowledge the oldest living son of Maxbo. He now resides in southern Oklahoma and is fat as a pig. Timberghost not only is born and survived all these years in Oklahoma, but has survived in far southern Oklahoma which is a feat itself. After being moved at 4 years old he grew a 7x7 mainframe and went in the 280's @ 5, not sure about 6 years, but then went 280's again @ 7 and mid 270's @8 always keeping a beautiful typical frame with extras. He has produced many 200+" offspring and some 300+" sons as well. He is probably one of the most overlooked Maxbo sons around as we get caught up in the current day sires. Even without a lot of advertising money spent, I think you will see his sons around for a long time as well. Maxbo was and is the King. Long live the Kings name and legacy!
