A Revolutionary Approach to Enhancing the Quality of Marengo County's Deer Herd by introducing Record Breaking Genetics.

Beginning in the Fall of 2012, the Big Buck Project led by Tutt Land Company, will be releasing Trophy Class Whitetail Breeder Bucks all across Marengo County in an effort to enhance the quality of Marengo County's Whitetail Deer Herd. This ground breaking approach to creating a positive impact on our local deer herd will provide local hunters with a little more to look for while hunting the woods of Marengo County. As we get closer to our first release date, we will be providing more detailed information about the initiative and where the Big Bucks are going to be released. Visit the link below to keep up with all current news of the Big Buck Project. www.BigBuckProject.org

Our deer belong to the state, therefore they can be released anywhere! You can sell deer to anyone, they only need a license if they intend on keeping them. If they want to buy deer and release on their hunting club it's perfectly legal. State would probably not like it, but they can't have it both ways!

i am sending this link to my state cervid org, and the kansas dept of wildlife!!! this is what every state needs.

Yeah talk about uniting the free range hunter with out industry......we start throwing some of our awesome genetics out there for them to have a chance at....you can bet they will be all over that....I just know PA would never do something like this......I hope I am wrong.......I hope this project is a huge success!!

Believe me I am not worried. I just thought it was illegal because I asked to release my own deer on my property 4 years ago and was told no. I think it is great if we can do that.

The only problem I can see is if the wild herd sneezes we will be blamed. It will be funny to see the people against hunting pen raised deer to line up to hunt in these areas. I wonder if they will qualify for state records!

This should be good news!

or what if CWD is found in the wild ???? blame who ????? yup deer farms . after all where did them deer come from ? deer farms . and who are going to get to sell the deer to the state ???? will it go out to bid ? this all seems good , but ?

The public is not happy about this at all. Go to aldeer.com, look at the serious deer forum under big buck project, they've been up at arms about this for a while.

Headley, do Alabama deer farmers participate in the cwd monitoring program? Also, do they participate in the TB and Brucc. as well? I am aware that they are a closed state. Just don't know if they test anything. I think the release program is a good deal for the low fence guys ( maybe the naturalists will quit whining now lol)

I like the idea, but wouldnt you think they would get better result's by releasing high quality doe's in the spring of the year and not buck's that will be shot as soon as they are seen by a hunter.

No doubt, who in there right mind would release a giant buck in hopes of it producing better gentetics, he'd be shot before he got 3 feet on the ground out of the trailer. If it has an antler on its head in al it usually dies early in life, end of story.

Guys, You are missing the bigger picture. Someone has realized that our breeding programs are a success, and the DNR's and QDMA breeding programs have been a failure!

People must have figured out that the wild herd needs help, wether does or bucks.

Maybe they should implement an antler restriction process in the areas where these deer are being released......that or restrict the area to hunting all together for a year so the deer can breed .....just a thought......I like the idea though....

I prefer it exactly as it is. The reason is this, it is not the State doing it. This is private land owners. The State is doing the right thing by staying out of the way. Most of the land owners doing this own large tracts of land and manage the hunting very well.

Very few of these deer will get shot. They have the ear tags and released on extremely large privately owned tracts of land. The land owner decides what the antler restrictions are and which deer will not get shot. There will not be much hunting where these bucks stake out a territory for a few years. We don't need the State telling us how to manage. The private land is much better managed than public land.

In my opinion, the right way to do this is to release the buck on these large tracts and then kill everything that looks like a buck within a mile of him for a couple of years. This is how you get line breeding in the wild.
