Anyone have any good ideas on how to keep Birds away from the feed .We tried bird traps, which they work good in the winter when its snowing but not in the summer.I have rubber snakes nailed everywhere, they just poop on them too.I also tried an electric perch,it too is a failure.I like alot of you work so we cant sit there with a shotgun all day.Just curious what others do for bird control ??

I am changing feed, going to a complete ADM pellet because i understand that the birds are not as attracted to the pellet. I feed a textured feed and am tired of bird @$#t.

That's what we feed and sorry to tell you that you will still be picking out the bird sh%t. Drives my husband INSANE!!!

It doesn't solve 100% of the birds:( but I have an outside cat that hangs out at the feeders more than the deer. Curious deer check her out sometimes but doesn't seem to bother deer otherwise. Sometimes I go down to the feeders and when I get under the roof of the trough feeder I will see her perched on a truss ready to pounce.:D:D:D Makes me wanna high five her! She gets herself a bird fairly regularly. Like I said, not an end-all to the problem but worth having around.;)

I researched the bird calls like you hear at the airports. I KNOW they work where they are I installed. I just have to convince David to do it, but he is reluctant because it is expensive.

We shoot them and have a cat that watches one feeder.... Wish we had a cat for each pen :)

Well , I used to use a one hole feeder for sheep that has a flap-door the falls shut like a hog feeder. It will hold about two bags of feed and no birds , no rain spoilage , no loss on the ground. I started by holding the flap up with a string and as they got used to it I would lower the flap til finally let it fall shut. The learned to flip it up quite fast with their nose and worked great. It has a top flap door to dump in feed. Only couple of draw backs. Amount of feed it holds and large antlered bucks have trouble accessing the feed. In doe pens and fawns there is no equal. I am sure you could extend the top to hold more feed if you liked. Look up sheep feeders and see if you can find one. Jim

A Owl decoy or two on a fence post and one right next to feeder works pretty good. U just have to move around every so often.

The hawk sounds are a great idea, U may be able to download them online as a MP3 and load them on some type of player. Trick is figuring out a Outdoor speaker system and @ what intervals player can run??
