B-rad I wouldn't say it is normal......not sure if it would be considered a pied or not....either way it is pretty cool though......

B-Rad.

Not a expert but I would say she had that piece of skin torn off and grew back with damaged hair which was white. Not a normal place for pied markings on a completely brown deer.

Whitetail Sanctuary and Flying Shamrock, don't get the white deer and albinos confused with each other. Many people group them all together and there is many differences in looks and genetics.

Albinos of course are born snow white and remain snow white. They will have white hooves, pink skin, pink nose and red/pink or clear eyes.

A snow white piebald will be born snow white and remian snow white. They usually will have pink nose and hooves and blue or green eyes. Some will even have brown eyes....but not pink eyes.

A seneca white will be born cream color but will turn completely white by the time it is 1.5 years old. It will generally have a brown or speckled nose, brown or striped hooves and brown eyes. The most notable difference is the fact that they are born cream/redish in color.

Just remember these are all seperate genes that create these differences in these animals. It is commonly mistaken that people see an all white deer and call it an albino. In fact there are multiple genes that can cause deer to be white in color, but there are subtle genetic differences that make them distinguishable from each other.

B-Rad,

I agree with the other comments, it could be piebald but it is questionable. Injuries sometimes do cause discolorations in hair growth. If I am correct that occurs when cattle are branded. The normal color hair is replaced with growth of white hair.

Perhaps this doe was grazed by a bullet or shocked by an electric fence. BUT, perhaps God gave her a white patch on her back. In any case, thanks for sharing the pic with us.

I saw a doe fawn once while bow hunting . It had a white place in the middle of it's back but the hair was different and looked to me as if it had a rump patch placed there with a false rectum area in the middle . It stood directly under me for a while so I got a real good look at it. It also had a funny gate that made me think it was some kind of birth defect . I never saw i t again or heard of anyone taking it hunting. Jim
